The Sea King was just scared of Shanks. That scene just showed how strong he was. And to what it was you will understand later on the show :) A fun fact: Sea Kings only live on the Grand Line and Calm belt. And that particular creature next to Luffy’s village probably just wandered into East Blue. Momoo, as already mentioned before, was brought along by Arlong from the Grand Line
