Idk if the number of tails has to do with being strongest, I think the ninja they’re attached to play more of a role in their power levels. Because the 1 tail has the highest defense stat from what we know, and we haven’t seen a tailed beast use an attack strong enough to get past the 1 tails or Gaara’s defenses so far.

I think the tails do play a factor in power and chakra it's in the manga but I also believe a shinobi's skill and abilities play a role in how effective you are with the power.

To put it in perspective they said they need to seal 9 tails last or the balance would be thrown off and statute destroyed so basically the 9 tails is as strong as all the other 8 tails combined. The leap between tails are pretty big. But also the holder of jinchuriki plays a big role as well in terms of being able fully wield the power etc.

You guys are onto something with your Mangekyo Sharingan theory and how it was awakened by Kakashi. My guess is he didn't realize he could do it until he ran into Itachi and after Itachi used it's abilities in him in part 1, he started testing his own abilities and realized he could use it too.

mangekyo is like an adjective btw, it's not a thing by itself, it's a type of sharingan. it's a mangekyo-sharingan. it's like referring to someone by describing how they're doing something without explaining what they're dong, like "he's strangely!" Essentially all base level sharingan are the same, and they are more or less identital in appearance as well. A mangekyo sharingan literally means "kaleidoscope copy wheel eye" as opposed to sharingan meaning "copy wheel eye". Saying he has a mangekyo is just saying he owns a literal kaleidoscope. mangekyo sharingan is a sharingan that has evolved to something unique to the user. Also special eyes are called "dojutsu" or in the english translation they call it "visual prowess". So the sharingan, mangekyo sharingan, byakugan etc, are all forms of dojutsu, and they're all kekkei genkai or basically genetically inherited jutsu. The interesting thing we've seen even now that's unique about mangekyo sharingan is that they seem to have unique appearances as well as abilities - no two people have identical mangekyo sharingan. For example, we've never seen kakashi use ametirasu (the black flames) even though itachi can, and we've never seen itachi use kamui (the black hole thing that ripped deidaras arm off). It seems that the way the sharingan evolves changes the way the user sees the world in a unique way to them and it at least gives them an affinity for unique abilities. whether or not all mangekyo sharingan users can learn other mangekyo sharingan abilities we don't know but it's interesting to think about!

Yeah so Gaara is 1 tail, Yugito is 2 tails (the girl Hidan crucified to catch), the turtle Deidara and Tobi went after is 3 tails, Kisame defeated the 4 tails (you’ll see how strong he is later on), the 5 tails is never shown how he’s captured, the 6 tails is filler (you can watch on your own time if you’d like, his fight I wish was longer cuz he’s cool), 7 tails is filler, and 8 tails you’ll see later on; naruto being 9 tails. There’s power scaling with each tail but it’s not said how much in the anime or manga.
