Number one, I’m completely relaxed lol just stating my opinions and it doesn’t really matter whether people agree with me. I just personally feel like some jokes meant for ‘dark humour’ are just distasteful. I also don’t really like jokes made at the expense of women and LGBTQ+, and that’s just what I think I guess. Relax, what makes anime sometimes fun is exploring the boundaries that you know are immoral in the real world, with fictional characters it's way easier to explore dark humor since no one is getting hurt, obviously people know how much of a creep he is, but that's the point of the writing, learn to make the distinction between reality and something written with the intend of a shock factor. Very informative. Thank you. I have read up on news about those issues and those are issues Japan really need to deal with. I'm not specifically saying it's due to only the mindset issue. I think because Japan is such a conservative natured country, it makes it even harder for men and children to speak out about sexual crimes done to them. The lack of support for victims also discourages that. Sexualization is such a norm in Japan that people don't take it seriously. But when in anime/manga I think people laugh it off since it is 2D.

There is a Boxing Anime called Hajime No Ippo. It’s the best sports anime/manga in my opinion, it has a bit of everything, action, drama, romance, comedy, slice of life. It’s one of those feel good anime that have moments that give you goosebumps. You guys should give it a try after Kuroko No Basket, you’ll definitely love it.

Hisoka (and almost everyone else in the show) are a very ambiguous character. The more you watch, the more you realize that they have their owns moral and ethical flaws and Hisoka's happen to be this one. It is bizarre and very problematic. But so is Hisoka. But also, I think that it is amazing how Togashi can make us understand parts of him (like he being affictionated for those he sees potential, for example) and despise other parts of him at the same time.

Characters have issues, but sometimes that makes them well written characters. As a councillor myself who got many opportunities to analyze people’s motivations, I would say Hisoka’s motivation has always been pursuing the most stimulating experiences. For him it is fighting someone strong. In heavens arena we know that Hisoka purposely let Kastro live 2 years ago just for him to become stronger and challenge him again so he can enjoy an even better experience. It’s kind of similar in the case of Gon and Killua. Hisoka sees that they could potentially bring him amazing experience once they mature, and obviously he has much higher expectation for Gon than the likes of Kastro. The drive of seeking high quality stimulating experiences, however, is often closely connected to sexual instinct. And Hisoka is obviously a very sexualized characters. So I totally get that his behaviours are questionable to audience, and they are. But ppl with strong sexual instinct are not necessarily attracted to sex itself, sometimes their drive for stimulating experience is directed towards other activities, it can be a good thing too as they are usually more passionate about their areas of interests, but it can also be bad as they are more easily exposed to addiction such as gambling. I’d say Hisoka is exactly this, he is a character with strong sexual instinct, but his interest isn’t directed towards sex itself but some other stimulation. His desire is intense but at the same time extremely simple: hunting the strongest preys who could bring him the best hunting experiences. Hisoka is truly a fascinating character, he has a complicated mind driven by extremely simple desire. He is perverted and completely lacks moral compass, but ironically he also perfectly fits the theme of the show as a “hunter”.

Marriage is not really the issue, because this sexual consent age is not only for women. Even for women, the minimum marriage age for female was 16 until last year then they changed to 18, but the sexual consent was 13 until this year (now 16). This is a problem so if a young lady get pregnant in early age before, they couldn't get married. Even now, if they're pregnant at the age of 16, they can't, because it's changed to 18. The law for sexual crime against child were not changed for 110 years, even worse, it was only for girls, and never for boys until recent. Hence why the sexual crime against young boys never been brought up as an issue before, until there were so many recent cases with teachers in schools and adults in entertainment industry had been doing crime against boys. Well~ Japan still have the old mindset and culture, not all of Japan, that women has to get married before turning 30. So the younger the better the women is since they have healthier reproductive system to create families. Woman are still expected to be good housewives to stay home and take care of the children and family needs. It's not only a Japan thing, some Asian countries have this practice and mindset. Of course, the law have brought up and increased the age restrictions. With Japan's conservative nature and culture, it has brought out some weird fetish and stress that some turn into brutal crimes. I know a lot of people say Hisoka is pedophile, and I can understand why people think that, but personally I really think he's not. I think he does all these weird things (like staring at Gon and Killua's asses, moaning, or saying ambiguous things) simply because he knows full well that these things are controversial and make people uncomfortable. I think he's really just doing this to trigger people and scare them. Hisoka is a person who loves to fight against strong opponents and scare people. For me he is simply the embodiment of mischief.
