First things first: Let's Talk One Piece! We are hyped to be starting this journey. We truly are. And we have gotten TONS of messages and comments regarding how exactly to tackle this beast of an Anime. We understand there is no way to satisfy everyone, but after discussing with multiple people (who have read the manga, watched the original anime, as well as one pace and the live action), we have decided on the following...
We will watch One Pace until we are caught up to where the Live Action left off. At that point, we will be switching and watching the original anime. We will be consulting with our mods (who have done all of the above mentioned), and watch any fillers that are recommended and skip any unnecessary ones. We have been told there isn't too much worth skipping,which is exciting.
Also, when we said we would be "dropping a show", I think those were poorly selected words on my part. What I meant to say was we will be holding off on adding any more time slots for shows. So basically the amount of shows we are currently watching is our max. We will continue to replace shows once we finish, and our upload schedule will remain relatively the same. We are not dropping any shows. Sorry for the confusion.
Lastly: Kuroko's Basketball! Don't worry, this is still happening! We have just decided to wait to begin filming, until we are finished with Death Note (so expect Kuroko to begin being posted here on patreon in about 2 weeks. Sorry for those chomping at the bit lol). We are working really hard and being a lot more thoughtful about how we approach our reactions. We want to make sure our quality is prioritized over quantity. So we want to make sure we aren't reacting to "TOO MUCH", and really understanding and connecting with the shows and characters. You will start to see us looking stuff up more, reading and watching recaps when necessary, and overall just preparing ourselves more before filming as well. We even plan on rewatching stuff (like JJK, Rezero), when we are not 100% confident that we understand whats exactly is going on. We are confident that this will be beneficial to not only us but your experience as well!
We are so grateful you all have made a decision to join us here. You have tons of great reactors out there who you could choose to replace us with, so we just want you to know we are so thankful, and will ALWAYS strive to improve and provide the best content we can for you all. Though we may not be able to execute on everything suggested to us, we always listen and take things into consideration. (Like watching One Piece vs One Pace for example). I feel like even if you watch the live action you should still start the anime at episode 1 as the dialogue is quite different it would be weird to switch that far in and not get a feel for the differences in the anime version

I propose the following if you must go the One Pace route: 1) Watch the anime episode 1-4. OR 1) Watch OnePace Romance Dawn 01, then anime episode 1-3. THEN 2) Watch OnePace Orange Town 01-03, Syrup Village 01-06, and Gaimon 01. 3) Watch the Anime Episode 19. (Best version of Zoro's flashback, better than the manga) 4) Watch OnePace Baratie 01-09, Arlong Park 01-10. 5) Start the anime with episode 45. This is minor, but One Pace also removes the commercial break eyecatchers, which showcase each character's music and wanted posters. Many reactors like to play the wanted poster guessing game during these breaks. Kind of like how you would guess what the word or topic was for Hunter x Hunter's eyecatchers and Huncyclopedia. But you can start doing that at episode 45.

I just want to offer some suggestions on how to watch based from watching others react and my own experience: - skip the title cards (idk why toei does this. They spoil the whole episode) - beware of spoilers (because it is 1000+ episodes, there's just too many things to spoil. That said, there are some big spoilers that the majority of reactors can't avoid so we'll see what happens) - One Piece is journey. At the end of the day, watch it in a way that you feel comfortable.

Sorry if that is also confusing, but i basically just wanna know if they will be uploading One Piece Season 1 Episode 1 reaction first or will it be well into the anime where they start uploading?

So OP, doesn't fit with me + i absolutely hate that graphic style, so i pass on that anime. But i fuck with animes that have one or few 12/24ep seasons.

On the other hand I feel this will backfire down the line when in a year they won't be able to rotate shows in and out because the long running ones are taking up all their slots.

Because we are holding off on adding any more time slots, and right now dont have a replacement for Death Note. So you kinda have to look at it like, death note replacement would be a show that we react to 3 times a week. were basically just replacing it with OP, 4 eps a week. :)

I feel like watching two long running shounen at the same time is going to burn you out and having two perma locked slots in your schedule for YEARS is gonna limit other shows you get to experience. Not to mention, HxH is pretty long too. Just my opinion though, its up to you guys in the end

You definitely have to watch it as per normal. I think many even recommended to watch as per normal until you reach Dressrosa Arc.

One Pace will ruin hype moments in the first half of this series, it will ruin funny moments, it will prevent side character attachments from being formed, it'll ruin the effect of the music. With a manga, you can study and pore over each frame and spend time with it. The first half of the anime gave us that. One Pace chops it up and robs viewers of that.

So you're not in a rush to catch up, pace yourselves :p

But as a fan my biggest gripe with OP is that the pacing is pretty bad, where there’s constant flashbacks of scenes we just watched that replay the whole scene, and lots of dragged out moments of people just staring off. It wasn’t too big of a deal for me cause I always skipped the flashbacks to save time while I binged. But I only bring this up as warning for you guys cause you mostly do one episode a week for releases, and watching dragged out stuff just to make the episode 20 minutes could get annoying for you guys. But your mods sound like they know the show so I’m glad you guys have trustworthy guides!

I read about it and it only confirmed what I thought. Even so, it'd be madness to say that Slam Dunk isn't the best sports Manga ever made.

It causes you to get more into the show and have a better understanding of it. It also reduces our time of waiting for next episodes. Just a thought on my side

I was more into romance anime but there isn’t a lot where there is no harems (which I don’t like). But my cousin got me hooked on One Piece. It was slow at first the build up will get to you. 2023-10-23 16:42:56 +0000 UTCOh, I strongly disagree. Slam Dunk is indeed a classic, but I don't think it is overrated in any way. It's a true shonen/sports Anime that doesn't rely on superpowers. And since they watched Haikyuu, they would be "at home" with the narrative and character building.
