2023-05-18 16:02:54 +0000 UTCI know some others in the comments have clarified but it was indeed Rem who thought “Ah, it finally came off.” It’s also the reason that she feels so guilty. She’s felt inferior to her sister for so long that when Ram actually gets seriously injured the first thought Rem has is that she’s glad Rams horn got cut off. Over time she developed a sort of survivors guilt for having that thought and felt that she needed to overdo everything for the sake of filling her sisters shoes. This episode is definitely one of my top 5 favorites for the first season, can’t wait to see the reactions to the next few.

However, Rem still viewed herself as worthless and inferior. Even Subaru pointed out at one point that Rem seemed to hold Ram on a pedestal despite being superior skill wise. Now we know why, which makes it all the more sad.

All this time her parents treat her like a knock off version of Ram instead of her own individual, the villagers think she should just die because she's not as strong, and due to all of this ostracizing she's been convinced of her own uselessness even in her own dreams. Her experiences had warped her so much she didn't really absorb the massacre of the villagers or her parents, but instead focused only on the thing she saw as the heart of all of her problems and that 'finally' moment was some sort of reflexive unburdening to me. That's what makes those tears in the flashback so bitter but the tears of happiness in the present so worth it @ the end TnT P.S. srry 4 the rnt hope I wasn't mansplaning

2023-05-04 20:44:48 +0000 UTCAnd about the dragon, it was mentioned in a previous episode when they were talking about the fairy tale books and Subaru was learning to read. All these things were already said in a previous episode so no spoiler here but I don't remember it perfectly. The story of the dragon is that the royal family had made a deal with a dragon to protect the kingdom, but now that the royal family is declining they need to find a candidate for the throne (the whole thing with the badge that got stolen from Emilia in Ep 1&2). So Roswaal's goal is apparently to slay the dragon. I am brought to believe this because he said his goal is to slay the dragon, and with the current info we have, there is only one dragon we know of and may be referred to when he says THE dragon :p

Even for a second, she felt like Ram's horn finally broke so now she can be better than her, and this had her feeling so guilty that she kept working so hard at everything after that.

2023-05-04 19:56:46 +0000 UTCWhen Roswaal is holding the Red Haired Twin, Ram, and touching the site where her horn used to be, I think he is giving her mana. It seems she is not able to use magic/harness mana as well after horn is gone like how she got really sick from using too much magic in the fight with the demon dogs. I think he's just helping her to recover or something like that. Though there's probably more going on as well

2023-05-04 19:38:51 +0000 UTCI think the advice Ron's LOL buddy Shaq gave you is great advice, because you wouldn't treat him willing to kill himself when things went horribly wrong as an easy choice if you put yourself in his shoes. Yes, he knows he's going to come back, but who would be willing to put themselves at hellish pain voluntarily? :p It changes the way you look at the show in that way

2023-05-04 19:26:42 +0000 UTCI don't know if you guys realised but there's almost always no opening / ending, they just play the song during epic moments lile they played the opening during the fight agains the beast and the ending during subaru and emilia's talk. The studio did cut as much "useless" content such as commercial cuts, opening/endings... to give us the viewer the best experience possible. The episodes are also very long, most animes goes like that : 1m30 intro 1-2m recap 19m episode 1m30 ending Re:zero is 22 to 30m (most of the time it's more than 24m) of raw content. This is so precious to me
