I hear what you're saying about framing flaws & Seb's dream, however the final sequence of the film is him remaining his life if he'd lived it differently that does seem to come with regret. I'm not a fan of this film, and I agree that Seb's jazz purist leanings are grating, but I did feel that his selfishness was part of his arc
