When I saw this movie, I would have never comprehended Loki's particular polytheistic traits given the subtlety of much of the symbols. The ambiguity of Dover's rescue raises the question of whether he was judged unfavorably by God, as it seems. In this story, Mrs Jones is eventually found out and killed by Loki. Her judgment might have been carried out with such time for two circumstances as far as I can tell. One of the conditions that led her actions, and more actively, her specific challenging of God, in a trial sense. Dover hadn't been tested as greatly as Holly, and acted questionably on someone whose circumstances made him as "innocent" as his daughter (Wikipedia says his IQ was that of a 10 year old).
