RealSpecs v0.9
A Street-Legal Racing Legend
The Ferrari 348 GT Competizione is one of Maranello’s rarest modern creations – a lightweight, street-legal homologation special built for GT racing. Introduced in late 1993 as the ultimate evolution of the 348 series, it was designed to satisfy racing requirements and take on rivals like Porsche’s 964 911 Carrera RS 3.8 in the battle for early-’90s GT supercar supremacy.
Ferrari produced only 50 examples in, instantly making the GT Competizione a highly exclusive collector’s piece.
To meet its competition goals, Ferrari put the 348 on a serious diet using advanced materials. The door panels and bumpers were crafted from carbon-Kevlar composites, dramatically shedding weight compared to the standard car. Even the cabin was lightened: thinner carpeting replaced heavy sound insulation, and the seats were fixed F40-style racing buckets with Kevlar shells upholstered in bright red cloth.
Unique 18-inch split-rim Speedline wheels completed the race-inspired look. Subtle 348 GT Competizione badging and enamelled Scuderia Ferrari shields on the fenders hinted at the car’s special status, while a numbered plaque on the steering wheel proudly displayed each car’s place in the production run.
Beneath the skin, the Competizione received serious performance upgrades derived from the track. The suspension geometry was revised for sharper handling, and the braking system was lifted straight from Ferrari’s ferocious F40 Evoluzione model. The 3.4-liter V8 remained essentially stock but breathed through a freer-flowing competition exhaust, nudging output to an estimated 330–340 bhp (up from about 320 bhp in the standard GTB). Coupled with roughly 90 kg of weight savings over the base 348, these enhancements transformed the GT Competizione into a more agile, focused machine that excelled on tight circuits and twisty roads alike.
Despite its motorsport focus, the 348 GT Competizione didn’t abandon civility. In fact, it retained convenient features like air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, and even a premium audio system – comforts usually stripped out in race-bred cars.
Ferrari offered no extra options or colors; every Competizione was delivered in Rosso Corsa (classic Ferrari red) with matching red cloth seats and black carpets. This turnkey configuration underscored the model’s purpose: it was a built-for-competition Ferrari that you could drive home from the track.
For today’s enthusiasts and collectors, the 348 GT Competizione represents a special chapter in Ferrari history. As a road-going GT racer born from competition success, it embodies the raw, unfiltered spirit of early ’90s Ferrari performance. Rare, race-inspired, and undeniably cool, the 348 GT Competizione truly earns its reputation as a street-legal racing legend.

Starting with the base Ferrari 348 TB, I carefully crafted and adjusted a wide range of 3D elements—inside and out—to recreate the ultra-rare GT Competizione version of this iconic Ferrari.
As always, I dug deep into the available technical data to fine-tune the physics, aiming to replicate the real car’s performance as closely as possible in Assetto Corsa. With limited information available on such a rare homologation model—especially real-world test data - it was a challenge ...
Fortunately, I was able to find a official lap time recorded at Ferrari Fiorano test track, and I’m happy to say that this mod in AC Sim achieved a very similar result.
Please note that this mod is still not complete - there are a lot of small details to perfect - but I find it already good enough to test and enjoy, and I hope to release a new version in the near future.
All specs and performance data are listed in the model description.
