I have been on a bit of an adventure recently of thrifting items I can paint on. I found this one and been pondering what I should paint on it, eventually deciding on a toony spanking sound effect.
On pic #3 you can see a few sketches I made and the obvious one I decided on. I realized I could rely on technology to make my life easier, so I created a vector design of my sketch and used a cutting machine to create the outline on sticker paper, which I used as a mask to protect the exposed wood areas. After applying several layers of gesso, I printed and cut out the design, positioning it on top to transfer it onto the paddle. After that it was just painting, then peeling the sticker off!
This is planned to be auctioned off at the Further Confusion art show.
