Witchhunt!

It’s Halloween, which is popular everywhere but especially in Bellitsa. My kingdom has a culture of appreciation for horror and occultism with a lot of folklore being inspired by it. Even some of the darkest moments of Bellitsan history like my mum’s torture and execution chambers, which are now monuments, have tales told about them. You know what else is popular here? Witches. Every year (at least since I took over) on Halloween, there’s a cultural festival that appreciates witchcraft (despite it not actually being real but no one likes a killjoy) and lots of women who attend dress up as witches. I myself intended to go. One of the more recent tales is that I am a witch which was initially used as a transphobic myth by my enemies in the civil war that I only “became a woman” due to witchcraft and making a deal with the devil but has since morphed into a popular folklore tale without any negative implications. One of the nation’s gender clinics even calls itself a “witch’s den”.

Unfortunately despite the popularity of it all, there are still some who would fit in very well in Salem and maybe Britain’s Labour Party. On my way to the festival, I was ambushed and knocked out. When I woke up, I found myself in a dark room with only one faint light on. It turns out this was a witch-hunt, despite it being illegal here and punishable by death mind you. Some religious nutters had kidnapped me and were aiming to put me on “trial” for witchcraft. As we all know witch trials historically didn’t require silly things like lawyers, due process or evidence so I have no doubt it will just be a sham. Unfortunately that doesn’t matter as my life could be in danger. But despite this, you all still sitting there thinking it’s hot that I’m struggling while I’m about to die. For shame…

I’m sorry if the lighting is terrible. I was sort of going for an “exorcist” feel only without me being tortured obviously. Happy Halloween everybody. I’ve always been a fan of horror although these days I feel it’s lost its edge and relies solely on jump scares and horrors being committed off screen (looking at you, Paranormal Activity). You’d think horror would get scarier as over time, people get less scared of horror. Some things that would be considered terrifying 100 years ago are tame to us. Then again I guess in the last 100 years we’ve been exposed to a lot more scary stuff and honestly the upcoming US election is just proof of that. Nonetheless I do like Halloween and I also like scaring people no matter what day it is. I also like cosplaying and bondage so now you know the inspiration for this. Bye.

I will turn you into a t-MMMMMPH!!!!
