As others have said, you noticed the tricky part about how Grisha is seeing memories from Eren, which is why he can perceive Zeke to be there (Zeke is not physically there, but notice the really cool camera angles in which Grisha can see Zeke is only from Eren's POV). The only counterintuitive part that I think you're getting tripped up about is that due to the existence of the paths, the past, present, and future all occur simultaneously. Thus, it is all one timeline, one outcome, one chain of events with no prioritized order. Since we perceive time as linear, all your thoughts/confusion make total sense. Normally you would think one would have to happen first in order to send memories back to the past, but here everything happens simultaneously. Anyway, hope that helps and I'm super excited to keep binging your reactions!!

2023-11-10 05:34:23 +0000 UTCIt was very confusing for me too. I have now seen the series over 15 time all the way through and the special came out yesterday and Iβve watched that about 4 times. Just keep going, things will make sense. Also the rewatch of this show is amazing because of how itβs written, itβs easier to understand even from season 1. I hope that one day you will rewatch. But just trust the process!

2023-11-06 01:45:21 +0000 UTCLol I'm not even going to try and explain the time travel aspect too much (seems like the other commenters are doing great on that π€£). The part that I think is the most important to understanding is the title. They're "Future" memories for the Owl and Grisha because they're Erens selective memories. Also, the reveal of Eren being the one who convinced Grisha to do that was WILD. I hope Grisha's VA got an award for this, still gives me chills. Legendary episode.

2023-11-05 21:37:32 +0000 UTCYou picked most of it up. The main hurdle you're coming to is the concept of that paths. In AoT universe the paths transcend time and take place across the whole timeline simultaneously which means everything is predetermined and within the paths at least, takes place at the same time. That's why Grisha was able to interact with current Zeke/Eren

2023-11-05 21:05:30 +0000 UTCAnother thing to take note of is the βwhyβ Why did Eren allow Grisha to see the memories that he saw specifically? Obviously perceiving Eren in the Reiss base, to ensure he murders the whole family (except the father (as Iβm sure you can figure out why he needed the father alive so the story can play out as it did π) But why would he allow Grisha to perceive Zeke and hug him, tell him to stop Eren?? Guess thatβs something to ponder on Basically Eren is the author of this twisted world

2023-11-05 20:43:15 +0000 UTCGlad you thought this episode was fire, it was (peak fiction imo) Just a simple (as can possibly be) rundown, not sure if youβve been fully caught up as these are prerecorded. Basicallyβ¦ Eren is sending specific back to his father, knowing the Attack Titan will let him receive these excerpts. Grisha in the past is "hearing" Eren's call to action, because Eren is sending the memory of giving this speech backwards through the Attack Titan lineage. If you go back and rewatch, you can see that the only times Grisha can see Zeke is when it can be perceived from both Grishasβ and Erensβ POV. So heβs not actually hugging Zeke, yet the memory of Zeke being there is implanted into him, so heβs hugging empty space, but that βmemoryβ is set in stone and Grisha at that moment is perceiving Zeke to be there. As itβs been stated, the Attack titan can βtranscend timeβ and the PATHS connect ALL Eldians, past present and future. Itβs a whole fucking mess but one that I love.

2023-11-05 20:39:55 +0000 UTCIt's a little confusing. But thr attack titan sees memories of its future inheritors. Eren being in his dad's memory with zeke IS a memory of erens, the future attack titan. So he's "seeing eren" in real time through memories ALSO remember Kruger? At the end of the season telling Grisha "you must save armen and mikasa?" And him going "whose memories are these?" Well they weren't grishas! Haha

2023-11-05 20:29:08 +0000 UTCIs there an issue with the video skipping bits? Particularly with Grisha talking about the Attack Titan to Frieda.

2023-11-05 20:06:53 +0000 UTCEverything Grisha did, he did because Eren who was not even born was brainwashing him, BECAUSE Grisha can see the future memories, and in the future memories Eren gets into the paths and into Grishas memories. And based on what Grisha said about not knowing if Carla is safe, Eren can pick and choose what memories to show him for his own personal gain.

2023-11-05 19:41:14 +0000 UTCSo in other words, Grisha is seeing Erens memory from the future, of Eren being inside Grishas memory... i think? I don't know im still confused and I saw this 1000 thousand times.

2023-11-05 19:38:18 +0000 UTC"He just gave him the titan and never said a word". LMFAO that didn't age well. What a plot twist huh? Grisha can see Erens memories from the future through the attack titan, but it was only made possible because Zeke took Eren into Grishas memory. So Eren made Grisha steal the founding titan, then gave it to himself through Grisha... Kruger might also have been brainwashed by Eren. Also, notice how the only times Grisha can see Zeke is when Eren is looking at Zeke. Grisha sees himself through Eren in 3rd person, which is why he is so shook...
