Hooray! Thanks for posting this!
I've been feeling badly about not enjoying the Doctor's appearance in episode one, but your observations about how it took the spotlight away from the cast put things in perspective for me. I don't feel badly about it any more.
My partner and I have been comparing Charlie to Turlough, and if you're going to do the alien leader stuck in an Earth school I think making the character a coward who alternates between betraying others and hiding in air ducts gives a whole lot more scope for character development. Charlie's a lot more likeable than Turlough, I guess, but it seems that since we've seen this character story before I was hoping we'd see something more complex the second time around, and so far that hasn't shown up (as far as I can tell).
I like that Charlie is taking his responsibilities seriously. I'm happy that he grabbed the soul repository thing (whatever it's called), but I'm unclear as to whether in contains Quill souls in addition to those of his species. Wasn't it said that it contained all the souls of their world? If you're carrying around an entire planet's afterlife I feel like maybe you should be a little more careful than just dumping it on your bedroom shelf.
Is it confirmed that there are only six episodes? The IMDB says that there will be eight, but it's an American resource and has been known to be wrong.
I've missed your video reviews. Thanks so much for doing another!
