June/v0.3 AMAs!

Hey all! Thanks to everyone for their June/v0.3 Ask-Me-Anything submissions for our development team. Please find the AMA below!

1. Are the old sprites (specifically the old rofi puppy dog eyes one) gone forever? 

Cobalt: Most likely yes (though Noh and Pom may need to confirm)! I may edit the current puppy eyes sprite just a bit more to be a bit similar to the old one, but all of the new ones are likely to stay! The current sprites are how I would’ve drawn them originally, but my art has improved and I wanted the current sprites to reflect that!

Noh: Personally I’m very satisfied with Cobalt’s updated sprites. If there’s continuous public outcry (lmao) we can talk about editing the puppy dog eyes some more, but the rest are here to stay. Until Cobalt inevitably gets even more skilled and updates them again.

2. Yo! I heard some of the staff are really busy with college/work stuff, and yet you still have time to do an amazing project like PtK. Any tips on time management? Could use some tips right now T-T 

Pom: I find that having a weekly to-do list helps me organize what I need to be doing and lets me prioritize things appropriately! Sounds kind of boring but it’s gotten me pretty far for what it is. I just keep it in my notes app, and every Sunday, I’ll spend 15 minutes “planning” my week with the studying, assignments, work, and other tasks that I have to do. I’ll also put any meetings or time commitments on there too, so I can visualize how busy my days will be and shift my tasks around so I don’t cram a million things on a day where I’m out of the house doing errands or meetings all day.

Noh: Deadlines help. They’re stressful but they help. Without them it’s far easier to just procrastinate the weeks away, or try to do everything at the last minute. Break up whatever you need to do into pieces, and set an arbitrary deadline for each piece. Try as hard as you can to stick to those deadlines, and reward yourself when you complete each step. And most importantly, try not to get too upset at yourself when you slip up. Cause it’ll happen. We all make mistakes.

3. @Rene What song has been your favorite to compose for so far for Promises to Keep?

Rene: It is honestly hard to choose, but I really enjoy making Foreign Memories; mainly because it was interesting to blend together two styles into one (in this case Rofi and Hunter) which is something I don’t usually do! In order to get from Foreign Nostalgia to the Foreign Memories (Hunter x Rofi), I cut up different sections of the original song and re-arranged them. I also added additional instrumentation (mainly the drums that are key to the ‘sound’ of Hunter), but the process was quite fun and interesting to me because I can experiment to see what sounds right.
