I got my new 'zine back from the printer's which means I'll be dropping them into the mail this week. Be on the lookout for a copy to appear in your mailbox soon!
This issue features an all new three-page diary comic about The Minecraft Movie, hopefully it's not arriving too late to still coast on that particular pop-cultural phenomenon wave. I missed out on seeing the film as it was meant to be seen, in a crowded theater on opening weekend with a thousand screaming 12 year olds hurling buckets of popcorn at each other, and that's something I'll be regretting for the rest of my life.
Once physical copies have gone out to all print 'Zine Club members, I will be posting a link to the PDF version of the 'zine for the Digital tier. Probably that will be going up this coming weekend.
Some additional updates - I am pleased to report that the Stranger Things cartoon essay I recently submitted to the New York Times Arts & Leisure section was accepted. I've revised and rewritten some chunks of it, I think making the whole thing stronger. I'll be working on this in May for a June or July publication.
There's been no announcement on the SCBWI website yet, but I'll be presenting a version of my comics-making workshop at the upcoming New Jersey conference in June. I am looking forward to that.
And finally, I am in spitting distance of fully completing work on my newest middle-grade graphic novel, The Hidden Dominion of Geordie James. Next month's 'zine should be the one that will feature a short comic-essay related to this book. I am still putting things together, but at this point I'm thinking it will be between 12 and 16 pages long, full color, digest sized. Keep an eye out for news on that one.
Thanks as always for the support!
Mike
