Harnessing Fear [BTS 16]

To accomplish our dreams in life, we often have to go through something that isn't what we are naturally gifted at. Something that can scare us.

But there's a way that fear can enable us to accomplish our dreams...

There will be much more content around the topic of fear in 2019!

This is an amazing story, Mike. It reminds me a lot of a story I told you in the comments of one of your more recent videos here where I had to fake confidence and lack of fear during a school presentation, even though I was freaking out inside the whole time...and somehow wound up getting one of the top grades in the class. Feeling fear when doing something like that means you care, that it's important to you. And I think when you do something that's important to you, even if it also scares you, the fact that you care shines through and other people can see it and feel it and connect to it. I love your videos about fear and I can't wait to see more of them in the new year. πŸ‰

So true Marilyn! Once you bash through it a few times you get a style and a bit of a groove going on. It makes it easier the next time!

It always takes work, it never feels easier, but you can learn to enjoy the feeling a bit. It’s the feeling after that makes it worth it!

In terms of presentations and public speaking in the corporate setting - "fake it til you make it" was my mantra. My fear stems from the constant pressure to prove myself to my peers and to the rest of the organization. Eventually, as I kept doing it I learned and got into the groove of things and even developed a style that works for me. And yes, if it doesn't kill you, it'll probably make you a better person.

This rings so ture to me. growing up i pushed myself so much i actualy enjoy fear now and have done for some time but fear of embarisment i thing that 1 is still a deamon of mine. definatly somthing to work on.
