Hey everyone, we are planning on reorganizing our token file structure, and we wanted to ask your opinions on how we might reorganize the Dragon folder, if at all.
---------------
Current Dragon Organization – All creatures of the dragon type are just in one big folder like they currently are.
Dragon Type – Each major type of dragon (i.e. 5e Red dragon, or 5e Gold dragon) would get its own subfolder. Creatures with the dragon type that aren’t one of the big design categories (i.e. Wyvern) would just be in the main Dragon folder.,
Actual Visible Color (Hue) – Color variants of each dragon design are split up across different subfolders based on their hue.
Some other idea you want to suggest!
---------------
None of these options are completely ideal, since the name sets the design of dragons but we include multiple color variants for each design which means that "Red_Dragon_05" might actually be blue in color (hue) as it's a 5th color variant even tho it's the "Red Dragon" design. To see how these would look like, you can check out this temporary Live Gallery album!

Personally I have already been organizing the dragons by their hue on my personal storage. To me it's easier to look at what color I need then under that folder I can look at the different styles to find one that fits the dragon I am trying to portray. I don't need my tokens to perfectly match the dragon I am using. I just need it easier to find the token I have in my mind for the dragon. But whatever you guys go with I am sure will be great. Love the work and thank you so much for providing so many dragons that this has become an issue lol!

The real problem here is that WotC/the D&D creators decided that the dragons should be color based, rather than element based. Red Dragons are just fire dragons (though their color could vary).
Honestly, I'm not sure whose idea it was to name the dragons after colors and not after element used. It makes it very confusing when I see a blue Red dragon. Or is it Red blue dragon? Bled dragon? Rue dragon?
To give some context on how someone like me uses your tokens anyway - I really only use 3 variants at a time (that way I have some variance). When I search, I search things like "Adult red dragon" after unpacking your tokens and then they all show up in the Windows Search - no need to worry about which folders its in. So honestly, the more nuanced approach doesn't affect search results (unless Windows suddenly decides it's going to show things in their respective folders instead). But wouldn't nuanced folders not make sense since there'd only really be 1 "hue" (as you called it) per dragon type? But I guess if you're putting wyrmling/young/adult/ancient all in the same " dragon" folder, then I guess the nuanced folders would each have 4 files, at the least.
Maybe we should petition WotC, while they're already doing major changes, to rename the dragons. Seriously, whose idea was it to use color and not elements? Fire is, naturally, a multitude of colors. And Ice is reflective of what's around it.
Also, wouldn't Faerie and Twilight dragons get their own folders if you're doing it by type?
Looking at the "By Hue", it's good if you want every dragon of that type, but isn't great if I only want dragons of a specific type of that color (again, needing to use the search bar anyway).
Just my 2 coppers.
