How did you sign up for our Patreon?
Added 2024-08-15 20:50:51 +0000 UTCHello everyone, we would like to ask you a quick question: through what means did you subscribe to our Patreon?
There are some potential forced changes coming in a year to Patreon and we want to gather some data so we can make more informed decisions. Thank you for your time and input.

Looking for DND maps on google images search, found some that came from your website.

2024-10-27 09:49:13 +0000 UTCWhat apple is doing, and does, by forcing companies/people to bend to their will through their app store is beyond awful. If you all moved to a different platform I would move as well.

2024-08-21 17:46:01 +0000 UTCMy entire interaction with this content is keyboard-and-mouse. With occasional mobile mail or browser - mostly to take note for when I'm in front of a keyboard and mouse. Drop the apps and I'd never notice. Mobile is not where its at for these assets.

2024-08-20 00:56:01 +0000 UTCI'll follow you to a different provider happily; I've hated every "update" to patreon they've made, and app-based doesn't make sense when everyone I support creates assets for computer-based ttrpg.

2024-08-17 19:51:29 +0000 UTCThis is (fantastic!) content that I use on a desktop, and I've never even considered using a mobile app for this. Already reluctant to install apps for any purpose that is not strictly necessary - and if this became enforced - I'd unfortunately not be able to support this great endeavour. I would hope that you will be able to find an alternative if this became enforced...

2024-08-16 18:39:04 +0000 UTCUsed the computer, and it was directly because of Baileywiki videos on YouTube. The integration he does between Dungeondraft and Foundry.

2024-08-16 18:01:21 +0000 UTCI initially signed up on the App on my Apple phone but will likely be using a browser in the future to make sure my Patreons don’t miss out on some of the funds.

2024-08-16 13:56:36 +0000 UTCWhile that's true, the apple fee itself is not that big of a deal for us specifically, since we can just redirect people to subscriube trough other means... However with this comes a forced change of removal of Per-Creation model and switching everyone who uses that model on Patreon to a standard "Subscription" model. Which simply doesnt work for some businesses like ours and will mean huge income loses for Creators (projecting up to ~60% in revenue monthly)
Forgotten Adventures
2024-08-16 06:52:13 +0000 UTCI didn't even know there's an app, until just now....

2024-08-16 05:07:56 +0000 UTCIt looks like it will not effect existing memberships: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/27992185537037-How-iOS-in-app-purchases-work-for-fans "The App Store fee does not apply to existing memberships and memberships made on other platforms."

2024-08-16 04:33:36 +0000 UTCIs there anyway of knowing for sure? I am 99.9% certain that I only ever used the website, but I do have the Android app for occasionally viewing status updates on the go.

2024-08-16 04:07:04 +0000 UTCYou never accidentally clicked it on the email that they make large and center when you just wanted to go to the website (which is a small link later)?
Daniel S.
2024-08-16 04:05:23 +0000 UTCFrom what I read, it seems like they will have two tiers -- one for people paying normally and one (that is 30% more expensive) for people signing up on iOS. Creators can choose to eat the 30% cost themselves, but hopefully most will not.

2024-08-16 04:04:23 +0000 UTCIf Apple (or Google) start collecting a tax on my contributions this will make me consider leaving Patreon altogether.

2024-08-16 01:55:06 +0000 UTCPretty sure it was through the browser on a computer. Considering I was setting up DungeonDraft at the time, probably the computer. Only other method I use for Patreon is through the browser on a mobile device.

2024-08-16 00:49:28 +0000 UTCMostly PC, and when something is really cool and I wanna check out but I'm not on my computer, web browser from my phone. I know there's an app but I refuse to download yet another thing to annoy me on my phone lol

2024-08-15 23:33:41 +0000 UTCIf you have the apple app, but subscribed on a desktop does it charge the tax? In other words should I delete/remove the app?

2024-08-15 23:27:36 +0000 UTCYeah, I've been extremely outspoken about this on my creator pages. If Patreon kowtows to Apple on this, it sends the message that Apple can essentially force Patreon, who can then force creators, to do it the way Apple wants it done. I've requested, and I'm sure it will be ignored, the ability to just disable subscriptions from the Apple Patreon app with a note saying something along the lines of "this creator would prefer you to use the website for subscriptions". I'd rather make nothing from those folks than to have them pay more or for me to soak their 30% Apple tax. It seems silly to keep supporting Apple's ecosystem with an app if they're going to use inclusion in that ecosystem to force sweeping business changes on companies in order to continue being included.

2024-08-15 23:10:49 +0000 UTCPeople need to speak up against this kind of corporate greed. These creators are out there working for their money, and we are choosing to support THEM, not a corporation. Unless consumers stand up to those corporations, this will become the norm.

2024-08-15 22:56:35 +0000 UTCThere's a Patreon app?
Joe Mesot
2024-08-15 22:42:06 +0000 UTCUgh we are dealing with the same things both Apple and Google looking for another cut from creators. Always recommend supporting on a desktop

2024-08-15 22:29:09 +0000 UTCI have the app but never use it. Signed up with desktop computer.

2024-08-15 22:15:05 +0000 UTCIn my experience the Patreon app is slow and does a bad job of displaying content, so I stick the web browser. There’s really not much reason I’d want an app for Patreon anyways.

2024-08-15 22:07:40 +0000 UTCThanks for the link. If it matters - I'm not in the Apple ecosystem at all ... Android only.
Bonnie Harris
2024-08-15 22:06:51 +0000 UTCIt was either on my desktop or through a browser on my phone - I'm pretty sure my subscription pre dates the app.

2024-08-15 21:57:44 +0000 UTCI use the app for posts because the phone is where I centralize notifications I care about (it's why I saw this poll) but I manage my subs and tiers from the computer.

2024-08-15 21:56:01 +0000 UTCThe Patreon App for your content is not needed or useful. The only possible benefit via App Store is that the payment could be used from Apple credit, but if it saves your Patreon money to drop Apple, even though I love Apple, drop it like a red hot rivet.
Stick
2024-08-15 21:47:37 +0000 UTCIf you did so through apple app, I would strongly urge you to either unsub or resub through web. Because you are going to be paying 30% more for no reason at all othewrise :) (which we wont see a cent from)

2024-08-15 21:44:12 +0000 UTCDon't have a phone app, don't want a phone app. I'm curious what the forced changes are.

2024-08-15 21:44:09 +0000 UTCI don't remember for sure (picked that), but probably did it from PC on website.

2024-08-15 21:43:24 +0000 UTCI have actually zero interest in the patreon app, in all honesty.
Ashlen B.
2024-08-15 21:42:17 +0000 UTCThrough the website, because no one uses the mobile app. Patreon should stop being pathetic no back boned pushovers and drop Apple support.
TeaPK D&D
2024-08-15 21:40:31 +0000 UTCwhat kind of choice are they forcing on you? Accessibility alone should require multiple ways to access a service. there are not a lot of options for adaptive interfaces on a smart phone.
David Jones
2024-08-15 21:36:33 +0000 UTCPretty sure I used Apple app. I’d be willing to cancel and redo on website since I hear Apple is taking a bigger chunk of funds.

2024-08-15 21:23:32 +0000 UTCI never use phone apps if I can avoid it, too many horror stories of corporations taking extra cuts from things.

2024-08-15 21:21:45 +0000 UTCI believe via the website on my computer when I was looking for Dungeon Draft resources.

2024-08-15 21:12:11 +0000 UTCI avoid using apps on my phone unless it is absolutely necessary. And by that, I mean if an app is mandated for my job or if it is the only way I get paid (never for anything related to games or gaming). Everything else is done on a computer. Phone apps are too vulnerable, for the most part, from a security standpoint.

2024-08-15 21:10:42 +0000 UTCI don't remember where I signed up, but I check patreon often through both mobile app (android) and website on my PC.

2024-08-15 21:09:10 +0000 UTCI really don't remember. It would have been either Android app, or website on my PC.
