Doug Collins is the 12th United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, sworn in on February 5, 2025. A Republican with a track record of public service, Collins served as U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 9th district (2013–2021) and in the Georgia House (2007–2013). An Air Force Reserve chaplain since 2002, he deployed to Iraq in 2008 and was promoted to colonel in 2023. With a Master of Divinity and a Juris Doctor, Collins combines faith, law, and military experience in his mission to overhaul the VA by focusing on efficiency, transparency, and veteran care.

As a physician, the whole VA system needs to be scrapped. Give the vets money to purchase their own private health insurance or put them back on the military health insurance. The rest of this is just bureaucratic bullshit.

Paul Plowman

i would like to think this fella is interested in helping the veterans and the VA. but. he talks more like a career politician with talking points prepared. how long will it take to see the work he has accomplished and its impacts? when will the work match what his mouth is saying?

Ari Raag

My overall experience with the VA has been good, I fought for my rating I'm p & t now but I have been in a disagreement with my ratings incentives I applied for my benefits and rating. It was very low. I'm being slowly paralyzed not from MS either.

Jerry Parker

I feel like this is the right man for his position 👍🏻🇺🇸

God! I have so much to say about this interview and how Shawn fearlessly handed Collins the solid truth. As a retired YNC and a former Claims Rater for the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) I could write a book. It's way too much for me to tell of my experience there in this comment section at this time. But I do want to plant a seed here though regarding Ibogaine and the associated psychodelics to treat veterans with PTSD. The "Right To Try" opens the opportunity for the VA to step up and out of it's current boundaries. Create a pathway for veterans suffering from PTSD to receive ibogaine voluntarily in Mexico. The VA must be free from any legal liability. They should pay for R/T transportation and hotel. Just my opinion. If I had the power Collins has I would make this my top priority. Thoughts?

Dorene King

I would love to tell my story about the VA. They tried to say I was an alcoholic (I’m not), tried to put me in a VA run mental institution, Take away all of my rights, and got me basically Fired and black balled. Now I’m “retired” and have to come up with ways to make enough to make the ends meet. All of it started with the VA.

Lee Maddox

Actually we are supposed to tell people what to do nothing the other way around. He stated before he's in the purpose of making benefits better not taking away from Vets. I lean towards Republicans sometimes we will see

Jerry Parker

I'm not sure what to think about Doug Collins he didn't seem to be transparent

Jerry Parker

Thank you for all the informative interviews!

I’ve heard what the Secretary said, and I’ve heard it all before. Buzz words and phrases are culture, we’re trying new things, congress prohits it, and then blame the customer, “they’re none joiners.” I don’t care about the past and I don’t care what Biden did, he owns it now and the proof is in the pudding. I think the Secretary is an honorable and truthful man, but he has a horribly tough job and he’s only going to be able to eat the elephant one bite at a time and this type of changes takes time, and as you know, time is our enemy. I wish him the best, and will wait and watch. Good show.

Colonel James Marye

Great show Shawn. You have the best guests.
