CQB - Real Time Processing

In this video I cover real time processing applied to CQB. This is one of the hardest concepts to teach and hopefully this helps. Situational awareness will dictate what techniques to use.

A hallway is a visual way to demonstrate because the situation can change very quickly.

Please let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.

*You are responsible for every round that leaves your barrel. Safe weapons handling is your responsibility.

Adhere to all firearms safety rules and range commands/protocols at your facility. For more info on safety, see https://www.nrablog.com/articles/2015/7/the-rules-of-nra-gun-safety/

These videos are great!

It's not wrong and there is validity to the concept but are you just as proficient left handed as you are right and is it instinctual and automatic.

Shawn

Finally catching up on all your new videos. I have a question. I was home alone and decided to practice a little and ran into an issue. I'm right-hand dominant with my rifle (home defense weapon) and came across some points where it would be really nice to be left-handed. The obvious question is to train lefty but in the mean time as I work on that skill with limited ammunition, how would you handle those situations as a righty? Basically having to make right turns and not extend the muzzle into the room and reduce the chance of getting your head shot off.

Let me know if that keeps up. Should be fixed in the app. Thanks John!

Shawn would really like to see a short video on the footwork of moving dynamically from the fatal funnel to the corner if one isn't planned already. Enjoyed the detail and walkthrough.

I really appreciate how Shawn forces me to rethink some of the dated or inapplicable doctrine and TTPs I learned in the Army. It would have never occurred to me to "blow through" a hallway with a bunch of closed doors. I would have taken the time to clear them all, because that is what I've been taught and practiced rep after rep. This isn't the only example but its probably the doctrine related item with the biggest contrast.

Good Video Shawn!

Robert

I can't get this one to open, anyone else?

Thanks Eric! We have some here. I might have to gopro up and get some first person views for demonstrations.

Shawn

Probably go with what's visible to you first because you are also visible to them. Each situation dictates unique sets of movement/tactics.

crushed it bro! i conceptualize opsec at my home a little differently now as well our family travels (hotels, lodges, etc). yes indeed experiment with wearing a GoPro! see if your point of view adds value. with scenarios like this it's very likely https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/head-strap-plus-quickclip/ACHOM-001.html

Quick question - on the two open doors, is there any thought to not running alongside the wall that shares an uncleared room? Or from a body mechanics standpoint should you avoid having to button hook and go with path that is best for ease of footwork? Ie instead of shooting the gap into the first room and going along that right-side wall, button-hooking down to the left-side wall, and clearing that way? If you were able to see some of that first room through methodical, would it make sense to address least seen wall when you go dynamic, plus staying off the sharing wall in case someone sees you from room 2 and starts shooting through wall?

Got it...thank you
