That was good; I had never seen that before. I like Thomas Jane; he was great in The Mist (2007), and I remember him in another horror, Dreamcatcher (2003). The Mist is a movie you should do for Scary Cherry this year.

He started out in Spider-Man comics, he was hired by the Jackal, who was one of Peter's old teachers, who became obsessed with Peter's girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. So he cloned a copy of her to uh, "do things" with, and he also cloned a copy of Peter to be mean to. Then the original Gwen died so the clone was now the only one, and obviously Peter's clone also had Spider-Powers. So anyway that guy hired the Punisher to kill Spider-Man, saying Spider-Man was evil, using Daily Bugle hit pieces against Spidey as evidence. Then Punisher went to jail, and then got out... and did all sorts of stuff. Culturally, it's pretty crazy how authoritarians love to paint themselves in his imagery, to the point where wearing Punisher stuff is more seen as a political thing than an indication you actually know about the character. I think he's fun in small doses. I like the fact that he has no powers, and all the money he has, he basically takes from the criminals he kills. He's got a unique tone to him, when he's written well anyway.

2024-09-07 21:22:07 +0000 UTCI haven't read the comics, but my understanding of the obituaries comment at the end, based on his character, is that he is going to continue hunting people who the law can't or doesn't go after, but deserve "punishment" for their actions.

2024-09-07 20:36:20 +0000 UTCThe Punisher is a decent film, but nothing compares to The Punisher Netflix series which is now MCU cannon. Jon Bernthal is the best Punisher by far, and is comic accurate as well. The way to watch The Netflix Punisher is Daredevil Season 2, The Punisher Season 1, The Punisher Season 2, and Daredevil Born Again Season 1 (coming out in March).
