Whew, found it. Hey, it's me, the guy several years late to the party XD. A note on the Firelink Shrine timeline... something I noticed playing through, and then watching this video. Also, considering I'm years late, this may have longsince been noticed by someone. On one hand, the timeline is convoluted and distorted; but on the other hand... The Giant Tree outside the shrine, toward the locked door that leads to the tower, in the first (light) version of the shrine, the text states "The Seed of a Giant Tree is yet to fall." In the second (dark) version of the shrine... the seed is fallen, and can be collected. I tend to think that the dark version is the future, that the fire has gone out, and time enough has passed for the seed to fall. I think the Shrine Handmaiden may be in the position of seeing all points of time, and that the encounter is in the future, but that she has knowledge of it by existing 'differently' in time than the player's perspective, maybe? EDIT: I've never been online. Never been invaded. I've always and only played these games single-player, playing through. Looking through these videos, I now see that there's a mechanic that gives the tree a chance to drop a seed (light/normal version of Shrine) when you're invaded. It seems that without that... It may never drop, I've certainly gotten the 'NPC invasions,' just never been online. So, mine never dropped a seed. There's just none in the light version, and one in the dark version.
