Dark Souls 3 ► Lore of the Optional Bosses

Finally done! I really need to stop making these 30 min videos..

Enjoy! Will be setting it public soon - just checking through one more time for errors.

As a personal update - i'm finally settled in a new place, which has been an adventure. I really underestimated how long it takes to do all the paperwork, set up services, buy furniture & appliances..man. Glad that's over.

and more reason to play dark souls

I love the longer videos, more content = more views :)

Yes! I love his longer videos too!

I quite like the longer videos. I am aware it takes more effort on your half to produce a longer video, but know that it is not wasted. I am a new patron (to you and to Patreon as a whole); I just want to say thank you for producing these lore videos - you are one of the reasons why I have started playing Dark Souls.

Honestly I love when you make these "30 minute videos" because it gives me something to listen and watch while I'm working

SlammedSloth

That was a much better video than the last one. I think you were trying to cram too much into last time so you couldn't really tell a story. This video lets the different storylines breathe a bit and we can see how they intertwine with one another.

Go Vaati, great vid! I think it would be more powerful to make separate videos for each boss (3-5 mins) however as opposed to giant 30 minute ones. It would mean more content for your channel, as well as being easier to digest as they're all spread out. TBH a bit bummed about the lore in this game, kind of wish they didn't opt for alternate outcomes for characters we love (ie: Havel etc) just to throw them in the game, their stories were already so solid and doesn't add anything of note, only detracts really.

Sean- That's certainly likely, though disappointing in the context of a Souls game, where everything is a hint or a clue.

I think the bloodborne references are just a nod to their work, like Stormruler is with Demon Souls. You are right though about Oceiros and Ebrietas, got major bloodborne feels when I saw him

Excellent video! I found the optional bosses in this game to be the most interesting, so this is right up my alley. I still lament that the only interaction with the Nameless King is fighting him; as a dedicated Sunbro, it seems counterintuitive to me that either my avatar or the king would initiate combat. I would have loved to see him as a dialogue npc and an optional boss, like Priscilla. Vaati, on the off chance you're re reading comments: what do you make of all the Bloodborne references in DS3? The church of the Deep, the boreal Knights turning to giant beasts, even little details like Oceiros having eldritch mutations that look like someone pulled them off of Ebrietas. And, of course, the flowers in the final boss fight. It strikes me as way too obvious to be just an Easter egg, or fan service.
