Hello, discerning customers!
Care for a serving of a great new taste sensation? We've got just the scoop for you! This week's release is The Dream, a mystery for Public Access. It was written by Jason Cordova, with artwork by Joshua Clark, and layout by Ben Mansky.
In the 1970s, La Fresca Foods was the largest employer in Degoya County. The company produced a number of candies, packaged desserts, and frozen novelties, and while it was never more than a region success, it was a highly profitable business on account of its signature product: The Dream. The Dream was a frozen custard-like dessert, and while the company's claims that it had zero calories were dubious at best, it was nevertheless much-loved in the region because of its creamy mouthfeel and excellent taste.
La Fresca Foods was on the verge of taking The Dream national when the company suddenly shut down. According to rumors, the company's founder and owner, W. Atlas Morgenstern, was being blackmailed for a secret so terrible, he was willing to burn his entire business to the ground rather than give in to the blackmailers. He suddenly became a recluse, holed up in his mansion in the tiny nearby town of Whitespray, never to be seen again. That is... until recently.
This mystery is based on Larry Cohen's 1985 sci-fi horror movie, The Stuff. It's the first in a series of upcoming mysteries, all inspired by horror films from the '70s, 80's, and '90s! The Dream is back on the shelves in Degoya County, and people are going crazy for it! Literally. Already there are stories of fights breaking out at grocery stores, and consumers of the product are acting strangely. Will the Latchkeys be able to swallow what's to come, or will it consume them first? Play to find out.
That's does it for now! We've got a fantastic, Giallo-inspired mystery for Brindlewood Bay coming up, so stay tuned for that!
See you soon.
