Many of the tests you can see on Glazy's Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/glazyorg/) are created using Blends. Blends lets you create a Line, Triaxial, or Biaxial blend between 2, 3, or 4 recipes. In the past, it was difficult to calculate the intermediary recipes in a blend test. Glazy now lets you automatically create all tests in a Blend! Just enter your corner recipes, the numb...

Dear Patrons,
Recently, I've added a way to import a material Inventory list from another user. This is helpful for artists at a school or community studio- they can just import the studio's Inventory list and automatically calculate Batch prices using the studio's costs. You can read more about the Inventory Import here: https://glazy.org/posts/122901
I've also added a new Pa...

To all Patreon subscribers, thank you so much for your support during this time. I hope you are all doing well and staying safe.
The only silver lining of quarantine is that I have time to catch up on software projects. For the past week I have been running a new version of a machine learning software, using the results I will build a tool that educators and students can use to study ceramic history. I also have plans for updates and new features for Glazy. And l...

Dear Glazy Patrons,
Since returning from my workshop at the Vienna University of Applied Arts, I have continued to improve Glazy while continuing my research, including a series of fun "gloop" glaze tests for oxidation cone six. These tests were made using biaxial blends. (Btw your donations help to pay for these test firings!)
Most of my testing makes use of blends. Blends are the easiest way to quickly create a large number of tests by mixing batches of only 2-...

Your sustained support has been essential to my ability to pay for Glazy's servers and continue glaze research and testing. I've added many new Glazy features in 2019, including Posts and the ability to save Glaze Batches. Not to mention other projects like the Plaster Calculator and "This Vessel Does Not Exist". And I'm planning for an exciting 2020 in ceramics-related software.

15000 photos. Built by us.
Since 2015 you've added thousands of recipes, photos, reviews and comments, creating what is likely the largest collection of ceramic recipes in the world, passing down knowledge to the next generation of ceramicists.
Thank you.

Markdown is a super-easy way to format text and add links. Now you can use Markdown in recipe, material and photo descriptions as well as comments and reviews.
An example recipe with Markdown is this Traditional Qingbai Glaze, https://glazy.org/recipes/8610. Shown here are examples of qingbai shards, as well as the two components of the qingbai glaze: Glaze Stone and Glaze Ash.

Part of my "Painted" series of tests prepared for @northernclaycenter's "Six McKnight Artists" exhibition. Each row has a set Alumina level, while each column represents a specific Silica:Alumina ratio. Coleman's original recipe lies on the bottom row (Al2O3 0.4) between the second & third columns (Si:Al 8.4). Close-up tile is bottom left corner (Al2O3 0.4, Si:Al 7).

Here’s a lovely set of Guangzhou Chinese export paintings from the V&A. The original set contained 24 paintings but I’ve only found 22 on the V&A website.
