Hello!
I wanted to touch base with some updates on what The Gauntlet is up to right now plus give a heads up on some of the changes being made to our Patreon.
Retired Pledge Tiers
You may have noticed the following pledge tiers no longer appear on the main page: $4 Codex Keeper, $7 Hangouts Friend, $10 Inclusivity Friend, and $25 Game Designer Patron. Those tiers have been retired. If you are currently pledged at one of those tiers you do not need to do anything. You still get all the benefits you were previously entitled to, and the amount you pay is locked-in so long as you keep your pledge active. Retiring the pledge tier simply means we aren't taking new Patrons at that level.
New Pledge Tiers
We have added the following new pledge tiers: $5 Codex Keeper and $8 Hangouts Friend. These tiers are identical to the now-retired $4 and $7 levels. Basically, those tiers were simply getting more costly and, coupled with inflation, it was well past time to increase their price. But as I said above, if you are currently at the $4 or $7 tier, you get to keep that price for as long as your pledge is active. If you ever cancel your pledge and then decide to re-pledge later, you must do so at either the $5 or $8 level.
If you pledged at the $8 tier today, you'll be receiving instructions soon about getting into Slack, getting your Hangouts RSVP priority sorted, and so forth. Just standby...
Codex on DriveThruRPG
Volume 2 of Codex will be on DriveThruRPG in its entirety by the end of January. If you joined our Patreon recently and don't yet have Volume 2 of the zine, be sure to check that out, and pay particular attention to the bundle pricing.
Volume 3 issues will be hitting DriveThruRPG next month. They will be a little pricier than before ($7 per issue), a reflection of the increased page count and quality of the zine.
Patreon is still the best way to get Codex, but if you need back issues, be sure to check out DriveThruRPG (just search: Gauntlet Codex).
The Farrier's Bellows Podcast
We are launching a brand-new podcast sometime in the February/March timeframe. It's called The Farrier's Bellows, and it focuses on story games. In fact, it's a sister podcast to our award-winning Fear of a Black Dragon podcast, and has a similar format. The hosts are Zack and Diana from the Heart Points podcast. We'll have more to say about the show very soon.
The New Patreon Goal
We have been teasing the existence of the $5k Patreon goal for awhile now, and we'll be ready to announce it... soon. The pitch is not quite ready yet. But you can trust me on this: it's going to be the coolest, most ambitious thing we have ever attempted. If we can pull it off, it will be The Gauntlet at the zenith of its powers. I'm very excited about it and can't wait to tell you what it is!
As always, thanks so much for your ongoing support. Together we are doing some really amazing things in ttrpgs—changing the game, in fact—and it has been such a cool ride. I can't wait to see what 2019 brings!
