Mitsui was too headstrong. He saw Akagi getting all the accolades and shine on the court during the prelims— shine that should've gone to HIM—, and it got to him so much that he quit from that point on. He could've healed up and gotten right back to it, but his pride got in the way. It was easier for him to run away from it all than to go back.
