I love Mei so much as a character. Those flaws definitely do get in his way, but I'd argue at the same time they are the reason he's as good as he is now. Eijun is equally as emotional. Those can be bad and good things as it forces you to overcome adversities which got Mei to this point after that bad play last summer. Hes not going to be afraid of a pinch. Hes not going to be afraid of mistakes. He constantly believes in himself until the very end. But then ofc that goes straight to his head XD
