I think what made it different is Madoka first plan was an original anime with 13 episode so Urobuchi wrote the story to be dark and despair until the end....but it's turn out really popular so a lot spin-of and Movie was come after it But Yuki Yuna is seem to be a novel at first so the story is longer and have some "rest" along with the story more than Madoka At least I feel that my heart won't be destroy like Madoka when I watch Yuki Yuna though. XD
