Midweek update 06/17/21 - Render pipeline feedback

This week I fixed many of the issues that I unintentionally introduced in the weekend update and experimented with switching the render pipeline.

The new pipeline could potentially make the game run significantly faster without sacrificing too much in terms of graphical quality. The problem is that since I made the game using the old pipeline a lot of the lighting and materials will need to be tweaked so that they look presentable.

I've attached two builds of the game, the "ExperimentalFkNAF" is using the new renderer while the regular "FkNAF" is still on the old.

If you're someone who gets less than max FPS, please try using the new build and vote based on your experience. My experience running the game in the editor is a 100% increase in FPS (100 to 200), but it's hard to say what the effect will be once compiled and ran on lower end machines.

If there isn't much of a difference for those who need it I'll stick with the old pipeline since it will be a decent amount of work getting the new one to look nearly as good as the old.

It's so dark that feel like light doesn't work at all. No light in main menu also no light around lightball in toybox afak.

LePorn

Same as everyone else but does run faster than the normal one. but that might because most of the game isn't there. (i say that knowing nothing about game design.)

The new pipeline runs better yes, but it does have some bigger issues than just lighting at the moment. Some of the bots skins are missing parts, the player character is invisible, and the desk and all components are missing entirely and couldn't be replaced in desk setup. If these things can be fixed I'd say it is definitely worth the effort though as it is a rather dramatic difference.

reporting some bugs i cant tip mangle anymore and all the screens on the monitor in arcade mode are black

For me I see the new pipeline lighter, more fluid than the original. Not a big change because the original also runs very well for me. I have the same problem as OmnipotentMitzy, (with the experimental) I see the desk area completely obscured and some problem with the skins of animatronics. I like the idea of improving the game anyway!

Thanks for the heads up. Now that I look at it, I don't see much of a difference, personally.

On the experimental version, all the posters have a picture of Mangle and all the Photos are blank, also the desk is just gone: both in the desk setup and in game, and the meatbag is missing. In the other version, when foxy tackles you, you can see the meatbag sitting in the chair.

Those are due to improperly coded materials, something that would need to be fixed as part of completely moving over to the new pipeline. This build is just to get an idea of performance differences.

I'm getting weird pink reflections (but only in the main menu) and the 'meat sack' is missing in the experimental build.

I'm personally running off an RTX 3080 so while it doesn't let me uncap the framerate to see how far I'm pushing the FPS beyond my monitors max refresh rate (165hz). I can confirm from within the main menu alone on the old build even with said RTX 3080 for some reason it doesn't want to push past 47 FPS but in game it jumps to the full 165 FPS. While on the new build this issue is non existent both main menu and in game I'm maxing out 165FPS, not sure if that's maybe just a bug though.
