I wish he would be used more. edit: Takeover was the name used for the NXT PLEs during this time period. They would typically be in the same arena that WWE would hold their own PPVs in the next day and it was like they were "taking over" the WWE Network for the night. It would often be Takeover: city name.

No singles match for 2 years. He had a very brief singles feud with Edge/Adam Copeland who personally requested to wrestle him. But it ended due to Copeland getting injured.

2024-10-17 22:10:12 +0000 UTCTakeover is what they named every NXT PLE... It would have been "NXT Takeover" then the name of the City... Nowadays the PLE's have names aka NXT HEATWAVE exc... But the Takeover era was peak. The main roster was so bad, I wasn't even tuning into Raw and Smackdown at all would only watch highlights, Big 4 PLE's & what I saw on social media was how I kept up with what was happening... if it wasn't for Triple H's black and gold era NXT from like 2016-2019, I might not be watching wrestling anymore or just starting to get back into around the time you guys did. AEW didn't exist yet, TNA was in the trash, and New Japan was too hard to keep up with... I likely would have just given up lol NXT literally saved my wrestling fandom😭

I hope he’s able to return to WWE like Andrade sooner rather than later because he’s too good to be stuck in an average faction in a trios division no one cares about in a over bloated company with inconsistent and mediocre booking.

And then it leaked out that out that he wants to go back to WWE, and Tony legit buries (as in not using them) anyone who has showed sign of that. He did have a feud with Edge, but that's because Edge personally wanted to work with him. I think it's a bit silly of him, because Malakai would want to stay in AEW if he was used great.

2024-10-17 15:43:30 +0000 UTCMalakai/Aliester black is sort of in a rough predicament right now. It's pretty much universally known that he wanted to go back to WWE the second Triple H took over. As a result, AEW doesn't really want to use him, but they also don't want to release him so that he goes to WWE. He signed a really long contract, so he's essentially wasting the last prime years of his career. I guess he figured Vince was going to stay in power for 10 more years. It kinda sucks for me, because House of Black was/is one of my favorite AEW factions.

2024-10-17 13:32:01 +0000 UTCAlestar Black (aka Malakai Black AEW) (aka Tommy End, he was in the match with the thumb ass train and slow motion) is a very unique wrestler. He’s a legit kickboxer and high flyer who’s married to Zelina in real life. You saw the peak of him here. NXT is his best run as a singles star. When he was moved up to the main roster, Vince had no idea what to do with him and he almost never wrestled. In AEW he hasn’t had a singles match in idk how many years. He’s lost in his own group the House of Black. The group consists of Malakai, Brody King, Buddy Matthews (Rhea Ripley’s husband), and Julia Heart. Malakai is the second least important person in their group despite being the leader. It’s upsetting how much he’s being misused.

The exceptions were War Games and anniversary ones. Takeovers were organized every 2-3 months so it wasn’t as frequent as the main roster’s PLEs but it always delivered!

2024-10-17 12:53:38 +0000 UTCNXT Aleister Black was one of those ‘the streets remember’ type wrestlers. Huge, fast, one of the coolest movesets in wrestling, and of course an unreal look. The narrative was always that he was held down on main roster WWE so I was super excited for his AEW run… and yeah. Feels like he lacks motivation, kinda just bounces around the trios division popping up to do a spooky promo that goes nowhere. Would kill to have the guy we saw on NXT back again.
