Oh yeah that was one of the first few watchalongs. He also also the Fingerpoke of Doom which I assume they’ll show next episode.

Nielsen would send out questionnaires to a random sample of people in the mail and ask them to track what they watched on TV for a week or so, then mail it back, then converted that to the ratings. So a score of 2.5 meant that 2.5% of that random sample watched a program.

It is a WWE doc so they’re always skewed and they always bend the truth to some degree. Like the Ruthless Aggression doc series where they claim the company name was changed to freshen things up when in reality they had to change because they lost a court battle to the World Wildlife Fund.

It’s hilarious to me that Nash and Hall got new contracts because the dumbass executives thought they were going back to the WWF.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

I know I'm a few days late but fun fact, Fake Diesel is Kane

Matthew Harvey

The ratings that show up on the screen are Nielsen ratings. They are attached to every tv set and the channels that people watch. The reason the numbers look low are because that is the percentage of households watching that program. 3.7% of people watching tv were watching WCW that particular time slot

Bobthekow

One thing that the documentary kinda glosses over is that WCW had been moderately ahead and honestly a much better show for several years by the time the NWO was formed. The NWO was basically what caused WCW's short lasting dominance as the clear #1 prompotion

.

One thing worth remembering about this series is that it kind of understates quite long period when WCW was way better than WWE. Both in terms of WCW being good and in terms of WWE being very bad. Not saying that to discredit it, because it's a fun series.

.

Rude response. It’s not a technicality. Totally unnecessary. A 1.0 rating does not equate to 1 million viewers.

As a kid i started watching wrestling in the late 90s early 2000s. I have heard about the monday night wars, but didn't know all this history and detail! Thanks for covering this docu-series! its been very educational! I look forward to the future episodes!

Biggest heel turn of all time. Went on international news! I actually prefer WCW back in that era to WWF. I was privileged enough that we had a sattelite dish, so up until TNT started coding, we could watch. Just not PPV's. Used to listen to PPV's but the image was green and moving around. Swedish tv stopped airing wcw and wrestling altogether in early 1996. It would be 8 years until they started airing pro wrestling again.

Jennifer Lindgren

Basically 1.0% of people watching doesn't mean 1 million people watched the show. Hope that helps tk no drama :) doesn't really matter

Diruroru

Wow. Thanks Vince.

Chad

It’s still the biggest heel turn of all time. The only thing that would rival it is Cena.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

How come it’s only 5 minutes? Nevermind the full thing is an hour. Two Sweet!

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

The idea of Bloodline Cole is now in my head and it is so very cursed.

Wade Kruse

Great analogy lol

Dport

I think the idea of adding Eric Bischoff to the NWO makes some sense. Like, the idea of this invading force having a man on the inside with executive power is a logical storytelling move. But I can’t help but agree it feels lame. He’s just got this dorky energy to him. It’s like…Michael Cole joining the Bloodline.

Wade Kruse

The Undertaker did wrestle in WCW as Mean Mark Callous. But that was long before the NWO he's been with WWE since 1990. You also saw Rey Mysterio in WCW before this you watched him vs Eddie Guerrero at Halloween Havoc

Drew Or Die

I dont know what the hell this means but I know when the ratings come out and lets say AEW Dynamite does a 1.0 rating thats a million views but im sure you will be right there typing away saying well technically........

Tk Banks

Not related to this video but congrats to smackdown 25th year anniversary 💯💯🔥🔥

Phillyman!!

I think the numbers mean the percentage of people who watched the program so a 2.5 would mean 2.5 percent of all people that had cable watched the show . Keep in mind thats not 2.5 percent of who was watching tv that night its 2.5 percent of the entirety of people that had access to cable tv whether they were watching that night or not. Not exactly sure how they gather that whether its a smaller pool that they use calculations to expand or what.

Nicholas Kramer

Not quite accurate. The viewership numbers are different from the rating... from Google - Nielsen calculates the percentage of their panel that watched each given program and reports that data as a number; if a program gets a reported 9.6 Nielsen rating, that means 9.6% of the panel watched that program; thus Nielsen estimates that 9.6% of American households watched the program. - millions were watching though yeah

Diruroru

It can’t be overstated how huge Hogan’s heel turn was at the time. He was the red and yellow superhero for well over a decade at that point. Top guys just did not change their characters that much back then.

Ryan Redd

Yeah. Kane had a few awful characters before finally being Kane. They also briefly showed one of his others, Isaac Yankem D.D.S., the dentist with the bad teeth lol

VegasViking

😲 really??

Tallywags

No waaaaaayyyy!!! I hear it now!! I knew it sounded familiar but couldn't tell who it was. I thought it was the Arby's commercial guy lol

Tallywags

Fake Diesel was Kane btw

VegasViking

I FUCKING KNEW IT

Dport

The ratings are Neilsen viewers ratings. The higher the rating, the more people tuned in

VegasViking

The ratings is viewership so a when you see 3.0 thats 3 million people watched. Today Raw gets about 1.4-1.7 million viewership and Smackdown gets around 2.0 mil

Tk Banks

Narrator is also captain/ admiral anderson from mass effect :)

Diruroru

It has audio, I realize it's muted about a minute or two into the show and start it over.

Dport

Cool that you're looking at documentaries as well as classic matches. There is one video that I'd like to recommend to you both called Villains in Wrestling: Making People Hate You by Super Eyepatch Wolf. It's on YouTube and it's a great about the heels in wrestling, I think you'll really like it

Christopher Lovejoy

These are so great. Thanks Josh and Tally
