Zack Sabre Jr vs Will Ospreay - Block A of 2019 G1 Climax

Comments

I hadn’t seen this one before. I had a suspicion when the announcer said something like “believe it or not, Sabre hasn’t been anybody submit yet in the tournament” what the finish would be. But it was a good time. Believe it or not, this card took place in a gymnasium with only 2800 people in attendance!

I forgot how much I love watching Zack Sabre Jr. He's such an incredible technical submission wrestler, and he manages to make a style that's often considered less exciting feel so entertaining.

This Zach Sabre Jr. run made me fully fall in love with submission wrestling. Already appreciated and understood it before, but he's so creative that I cant take my eyes off of his offense.

''Watch Me Whip Watch Me'' Nanae Takahashi

The G1 has at least 3 or 4 bangers a year so alot get lost in the shuffle. I can thankfully say that this was one that did and I can watch it for the first time again

Wilson Simons

I love watching cruiserweights. They usually put on the most exciting matches in my opinion.

Zakk219

Thats it. There's so much variety out there I think now we are so spoilt with the amount of wrestling we can consume. WWE, AEW, New Japan, Stardom, CMLL, TNA and NXT are all doing great things at the moment, and they each provide something for everyone.

BazMan01

That's been one of my favorite parts of this is learning the different styles

Tallywags

Watching more and more of these matches, I think I really like cruiserweights lol

Tallywags

"So good they broke the damn ring" is on my list of matches to nominate if it fits the theme.

Adam Nelson

Right let’s see if this is all it’s cracked up to be.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

I'm not super familiar with Japanese wrestling so the crowds and stuff are still something to get used to. It is definitely interesting to see the pacing of Japanese matches as opposed to the wrestling I'm more familiar with. I haven't watched much Ospreay but he is consistently been really good in every match I've seen. ZSJ is also someone I need to search out more because other than the Cruiserweight Classic WWE did I have not seen as much of him as I should. I really like his style of technical wrestling.

Zakk219

Glad you guys enjoyed!

Nate Cruz

I’m actually a little surprised to see how small he was here. I had forgot. He’s actually bulked up a fair bit in recent years. He still stays relatively lean because his style requires flexibility, but damn 2019 ZSJ is baby.

Wade Kruse

Bloody Sunday was one of Finn Balor's finishers when he was in NJPW wrestling as Prince Devitt

VegasViking

SEE lol regular dude

Dport

He’s such a fun and unique wrestler to watch.

Wade Kruse

Appreciate you guys checking out all styles of wrestling. I haven't watched much New Japan myself but I've seen some of Zack Sabre Jnr when he's made appearances in AEW. His style is different from anyone's I've seen. He puts his opponents in various submission holds that look legit haha.

BazMan01

"I think Ricochet does that." Well now you've gotta check out Ricochet vs Will Osprey 😏

VegasViking

ZSJ is far too much of a socialist to work at a bank

Wade Kruse

Pretty sure Zack works at my bank lol

VegasViking

This is the perfect time to learn about Zack Sabre Jr. He just won this years 19-night long G1 Climax tournament for a shot at the IWGP title at Wrestle Kingdom. This is New Japan’s equivalent to winning the rumble main event Wrestlemania. He announced he’s using his title shot early and has a great chance of winning the IWGP heavyweight title very soon. He’s worked for New Japan for years and is finally reaping the rewards of his stellar work. Would suggest looking into this years Wrestle Kingdom (or at least the top matches)! It’s on January 4th every year in the Tokyo Dome.
