Joseph Conners vs Drew Galloway [McIntyre] vs Joe Hendry - Steel Cage - DELETE WCPW 2016

Drew... WHO?!

Comments

This was new to me and a ton of fun! Earlier Drew, earlier Hendry, and someone new to me in Conners, who I thought was a fine heel. Between the lighting and what everyone was wearing, there were just a ton of dark colors. That dingy feeling can be really fun at an indie show. Edit - Other notables on this card - Will Ospreay, Cody Rhodes, Bully Ray, Matt Hardy (hence the delete)

This is a Tally Tier suggestion. As in, someone on the top tier suggested this and it’s been reacted to.

I remember watching WCPW when it started. It was my first real exposure to following indie wrestling, especially British indie wrestling. Introduced me to a lot of cool wrestlers including Joe Hendry, Martin Kirby and Gabe Kidd. The promotion was built around the Youtube channel they have covering wrestling which had gotten popular around that time and was a big reason they were able to bring in names like Drew, Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes, and the Young Bucks. It kinda started dying when Youtube cracked down on violent content and a lot of wrestling content got demonetized. Then the original team behind the popular videos (who also had a large presence in the wrestling show itself) left and they never really recovered from that. It's unfortunate because they put on some good shows but ultimately they were a victim both of Youtube at the time and the higher ups not treating the original talent well enough to convince them to stay.

you should go to an indie show, you'd love it, especially with the interactions

Dmc320

As soon as I saw it I was like I gotta up my tier to request it lmao

Charlie

need that iyo utami ngl 😭

🙇🏾‍♂️

God forbid we get some cool indie stuff

Wade Kruse

Same.

Chad

Dude it's literally a bonus match lol. I am a huge Undertaker fan so I'm gonna request a lot of Undertaker matches, even the ones that are not good because I like The Undertaker. This person might really like Drew McIntyre or Joe Hendry for all we know. No need to be an asshole about it.

Chad

Its also a Tally tier match so it's literally just a bonus match.

Dport

Why so hostle? Someone really likes this match why are you being an ass? Don't like it don't watch.

Matt

So then don't watch it? Why be a dick?

Dport

Who the fuck voted for this??????? All the options we had recently for new uploads and this is what we get………… disappointing is an understatement

Josh Cahill

i believe in joe hendry

Been suggested since the beginning so I’m glad to see the guy who kept suggesting it finally got it reacted to.

While this isn't the best technically executed match, I love the storytelling here--the two friends with a common foe gradually unraveling, the arrogant heel work from Connors, and that finish with Joe Hendry on the outside thinking he's won. It's just... *chef's kiss* WhatCulture Pro Wrestling was started by the then-active WhatCulture Wrestling presenters as an independent promotion with a weekly show on YouTube, and the presenters playing essentially manager characters in the promotion's kayfabe. They had a great roster full of up-and-coming talent in the UK indie scene at the time and pulled in lots of big ex-WWE/TNA names like Kurt Angle, Matt Hardy, Cody Rhodes, and Drew Galloway/McIntyre to do guest matches and runs. There was some drama that caused most of the WhatCulture Wrestling presenters to leave WhatCulture and WCPW (they went on to form Cultaholic Wrestling) and WCPW rebranded to Defiant Wrestling, but changes in YouTube monetization and the high cost of their guest appearances eventually ran them out of money and caused them to shut down in 2019. There's a good documentary that summarizes the promotion's history that I'll suggest for the documentary week at some point.

Dope!

Brother Ric Flair was wooing and wrestling everywhere before getting to WWE, whether that be the NWA or WCW. He was actually in his 40’s when he debuted for WWE in the 90’s.

Dak4life

Looks like we gotta get you one of those mini AC coolers

Darth Ramious

I believe!

Happy my guy finally got his match. I’ve seen it in the polls and it seemed way to niche to get any votes
