Magia Mechanica: Prologue [MahoAko X Warhammer 40k Techpriest SI]
Added 2025-10-15 15:38:14 +0000 UTCPrologue
To have knowledge is to have power. That was the fundamental truth in this universe. Truth was power and through its search across the winding paths laid by the Omnissiah does humanity overcome its limitations.
To yearn for the truth was thus a natural prerogative, a divine purpose that all mankind should aspire to and something which he, as an acolyte of the future priesthood of Iron and Divine Silica, must stoke inside his fellow man.
"From the weakness of the mind, Omnissiah save us," He whispered in binary as he anointed holy oil upon the mechandrite attached to his pack, "From the lies of the Antipath, circuit perserve us."
It wasn't the best oil to use with such precise machinery, being nothing more than a simple WD-40, but it was what he had. The oils used by the priesthood had yet to be invented after all, and it'll be several centuries before humanity gets even close to creating such wonders.
"But maybe that's the Omnissiah's mercy at work," He whispered as he paused temporarily with his litany and gazed at the city which he now lived in. With glimmering towers of glass, steel and concrete amidst the moonlit sky, he found himself in paradise.
Tokyo during the early part of the 2nd Millenia might not hold a candle to the technological achievements of the 41st Millenia, but it was a far more peaceful and idyllic place to live in. That, however, doesn't mean it wasn't without its dangers.
As his eyes scanned the sky, he found himself drawn to the multi-colored comets streaking across the sky. "Magical Girls," He whispered as the implants inside his left eye focused on their pure forms, "Why does it have to be magical girls though…"
It wasn't that he was complaining, far from it. He welcomed magical girls as they were bringers of hope and joy. Their presence, however, also meant that great evil was abound, evils which now linger in the shadows.
"At least I have live target practice," He shrugged as he turned to finish his litany before donning them. The attachments he had just made for them weren't going to test themselves after all and there were plenty of subjects abound just waiting to be popped!
"Now I wonder what kind of monster I will find today," He whispered as he pulled out spheres and tossed them in the air.
Finding his subjects could be a bit tricky though given how thorough Magical Girls can be with their job, thus the need for his little helpers; Servo-Skulls. "But are they servo skulls?" He hummed as the sphere hovered before opening their eyes.
They had all the make up of a servo skull. The anti-gravity field generators, the various sensors it needs to sense the world and the necromorphic chips (made ethically from dead rats) necessary for their rudimentary coding, but they aren't encased in a skull.
"Eh, who cares," He shrugged. It wasn't like there were any traditionalists around to question him. What was important was that they served as his eyes, both in the literal and figurative sense, in his search around Nerima.
With live data now streaming into his consciousness, he extended his merchandise beneath him before scuttling across the empty roof tops. There was a lot of ground to cover thanks to how thorough Magical Girls were at their jobs, and he had to be quick if he wanted one for himself.
He wouldn't have to search long, however, as a ping fired off from one of his drones. "Found you," He whispered as he beelined for an alley.
There, he would find his quarry hiding amongst the litter; a large red beast in the shape of a reptilian like hound. Such beasts were a common sight in Shinjuku as they were drawn to violence, eager to join the frey.
Thankfully, they were nothing more than beastly monsters that any magical girl worth their salt could dispatch. Along with the potent bloodlust they exude, something which even he would sense as his nose picks up the scent of iron lingering in the air, they were easy to spot and hunt.
They do pose great danger to the vulnerable, especially to drunk office workers with their dulled senses, so it was necessary to dispatch them quickly. One could say that it was his civic duty to do so as a law-abiding citizen, ignoring the fact that the barrel of his mechandrite started to heat up and glow with untapped power.
"Blessed be the stars for their nourishing light and their cleansing fire," He whispered in binary as he lined up his shot. "Power set at 20%." No need to vaporise the concrete when he could just leave a shadow instead.
THUMP!
WIth but a thought, his mechandrite bucked as he fired, only for things to perk up at the last moment and bolt. "Drat!" He cursed. Of all the time for the thing to flee, and it was fast as well. Even with his mechandrite, he struggled to keep up as it headed deeper into the alley.
It did avoid the roads, making his job easier. His robes didn't have the magical bullshit that magical girls have. At least those girls could rest easy knowing their identities were safe!
Cursing some more, he fired several more shots yet only grazed the beast. "Hold still!" He shouted, hating how it weaved with unnatural ease as it leapt up to the rooftop and headed straight for one the parks.
CRACK!
Not even his lesser, but more accurate shots help. It was as if they were sliding off it, and what's worse was just how fast it was. Try as he might, he was just not going to pin it down. He wasn't one to give up easily though.
"Oh great machine spirits, lend me your physical shell so I might smite my foe," He chanted before commanding his Servo-skulls, "Eyeball 1, Initiate ramming maneuver!"
With a terrible whine, the skull glowed hot red as their motors were pushed to the limit. Now freed by their limiters, it zoomed past him before they slammed into the side of the beast, knocking it off its feet and right into his line of fire.
THUMP!
With a howl of pain, the monster's side exploded in a blast of red mist, sending it flying across the air before landing somewhere in the treeline inside the nearby park. The beast was finally dealt with, but he could worry about that later. Right now, he had something more important to tend to.
"You did well Eyeball 1," He whispered as he landed before the limping drone and inspected it for damages. The field generators were shot, but thankfully, most of the wiring hadn't burnt and the fact that the necromorphic chips hadn't fried was a miracle.
"I'll find some good Sony's to rip apart for parts," He promised his little helper as he slipped it inside his pack before turning to his other quarry. It would be a shame to let it slip away and not see the damage which his Plasma Gun attachment caused.
As he directed his other Servoskull ahead, he trailed behind it, making sure to keep out of sight as he leapt across towards the park, especially with all the people now out and about. His little stunt must have caught the attention of bystanders.
Not good, but it is what it is. He just had to deal with this quickly. "Now let's see what we got," He whispered as his eyes finally found the creature. With its gaping wound, it wasn't going anywhere soon.
"Not flash fried?" He noted as he landed before it. The fact that it was still moving and limping as it pushed against the base of the tree was annoying, but data was data and he would loathe to discard it just because it doesn't fit the parameters he wishes to achieve. "Perhaps I over estimated the power of my Plasma caster."
Either that or monsters were just tough. It did take the likes of Magical Girls or a disciplined squad of hunters to bring down even a beast like this, so it wasn't too much of a stretch. The considerable drain to his power pack was problematic.
Compared to the drain of his Lasgun, he was trading away precious power for a shot that didn't even boil away its blood. "Maybe I should amp it to 30% then," He mused as he aimed his Plasma Caster at the beast's side. It was costlier, but it should do the job all without damaging pavement too much.
Just as he was about to utter the Litany of Discovery and Experimentation, he felt his pocket shake. Sighing, he reached for his pockets as he commanded, "Stay there." Of all the times that someone would call him, it would have to be right now.
As he opened his phone, he was met with a withering barrage of text filling his inbox along with the few odd missed calls. "Oh boy," he whispered as he scrolled through them, wincing at the final text.
"Young man, you are in so much trouble!"
It wasn't his fault that he had his phone on vibrate only. How else could he sneak up on monsters? Explaining that to his parents without having them freak out, however, was not an option. He wasn't supposed to be out and about after all.
"You're still recovering," Another text popped up, further adding to his headache, "Tell us where you are right now so we can pick you up."
They were never going to stop worrying about him, were they? "It's been like 3 months since I woke up," He muttered as he tapped away at his keyboard, "I'm fine." The flesh might be fragile, but its capacity to heal was unparalleled.
"Sorry mom, I forgot to buy some material for a class project. Will be back in a bit."
.
It wasn't the best excuse, but it was what he could think of right now. Thankfully, his parents bought his excuse as they replied, "Ok, but be careful. There's some TV reports about Magical Girls fighting in Shinjuku. It's far away from Nerima, but still…"
"Definitely need to clean up fast then," He whispered as he replied with a thumbs up. Real magical girls were probably on their way as he spoke, which was a shame as he would have loved to shoot the monster several more times. "Oh well. Time to…"
"Where did it go?" He whispered as he stared at the blood stains on the tree before the hair at the back of his neck stood up. Without a second thought, he threw himself to the side as two large snapped at where his torso was several moments ago.'
"Crap!" He cursed as he leveled his mechandrite at the pack that now surrounded him. He got distracted and now he was paying the price.
CRACK!
THUMP!
CRACK!
He fired away, blasting at them without a second of hesitation. "There is only one truth and one speech," He incanted as his auxiliary cogitators burnt from the data fed to it, "Blessed Binary, Blessed Mathematica, cast my doubts away and reveal thy truths."
With his mind sharpened, his shot landed true. However, these fiendish monsters were tough, snapping away even as flesh sizzled and bones broke. Now forced to flee, he made a choice. "Blasted beast!" He screamed as he tore off his precious Plasma Caster before tossing it at their baying mouth, "Have at it!"
BANG!
That was a month of precious man hours down the drain with one brilliant explosion, but it bought him time. The beast was momentarily stunned with a couple vaporized in an instant, but the time he bought was temporary at best.
The pack which now hunted him seemed without end. More now entered the fray as blood now stained the ground and lingered in the very air he breathed. "This is not good," He muttered as he pointed his remaining mechandrite and assessed the situation.
For as many as he could incapacitate, two more seem to take its place. "Is there actually a Magical Girl fight somewhere close?!" He gritted. It was the only reason there could be so many of these bastards. Did he just stumble into a bigger pack?
"More importantly, do I have enough shots," He thought to himself as he checked his power. He had enough for a full fight without the plasma caster draining him, but it was going to be tough with so many.
"I really should have brought some drones," He muttered as he squared up and prepared for a tough fight ahead. Just as he was about to fire off his first shot, however, a beam of light lanced down and nailed one of the dogs on the head.
Confusion amongst the beast quickly turned to panic as bolts of yellow, icicles spears and pink beams soon followed. One after the other, the beast fell and before he knew it, all that was left in the clearing was his lonesome. "It's… over?"
For a moment, relief flooded his veins as he let go on the throttle on his auxialia cogitator. This feeling, however, would be temporary as a voice called out from above, "Not quite." Gazing up, he froze as the three figures floated with the moon behind their back, figures he was all too familiar with.
"You know there's a reason why civilians are advised not to fight," Magia Sulfur said sweetly as a strained smile stretched across her lips, "Now how about you come along peacefully and explain why the hell you thought it was a good idea to hunt a pack of Bloodhound all by yourself."
A/N:
So... I got distracted. Sorry about that. Will really get back to writing for the October Poll winner after this. If you like this prologue, feel free to comment and ask any questions regarding the idea. Oh yeah, just to clarify, the SI is someone who incarnated in 40k before waking up in this verse. It's not yet final though so I could change it to three souls in one body.
Also, huh... I really should sleep earlier cause the words just flowed out better today.

Seems like an interesting story, I wonder how our MC will get out of this?
