Why You Should STILL Read Berserk

Hey guys.

Its Time. The Berserk video is here:

https://youtu.be/UBrUVqZ_pO8

I want to apologize for the lack of credits in this video, I had them done, but to be honest, it felt a little disrespectful going into the usual roll call after ending on a final thank you to miura, so I made the decision to cut the credits in favor of something more under stated, regular credits will resume next video.

I hope this date with skullknight makes up for it:

I am very tiered, i am going to go eat pizza, fight rodan, and watch Wrestlemania.

I really really hop you guys enjoy the video, I gave it absolutly everything I have. I have nothing left to say about Berserk, and its so wierd to me people are actually going to watch this

I will try say something more meaninful about it when I am less tired.

Thanks for the support <3

I just finished the Manga 1 hour ago. When you uploaded the video a month ago I watched the first 20 minutes of it and bought the Manga after that haha. It took me a bit longer than a month to finish it and now I watched the rest of the video. I just wanted to thank you for making the video, it even made me cry 👍

I just wanna say this video was amazing. In my 31 years its a rarity for a video to make me really emotional but this did in the best of ways. It was exactly what i needed in this difficult moment in my life. I will always watch your content as long as you decide to make it and please take care of yourself. Thank you so much for your incredible perspective and your hard work.

Dude u are insane. (i'm italian sorry for my poor english). I follow u since one piece video I decided to support you on patreon thanks to this video. If i can say my opinion, i did not like the all dating part, just because i have a bad relationships with dating app. Anyway i really apprteciate your work. Particularly into the second part. You always help me to make my thoughts take shape. I can just say, thank you and congratulations for your job.

Man, this video. Congratulations Jon, you outdid yourself. I cannot stress how much I love your work, the way you passionately talk about things that you love, why you love them and why people should give them a try. And this, this video right there, is all of that in its purest form. With the added component of discussing creation, its cost, its goal, its place in life, its place in death. This was sublime. This was needed. This was essential. Thank you for your work, and I add my voice to those who said: take care of yourself. Take all the time you need, create at the pace and level that you're comfortable with. And do not be afraid of ending things when you think they should end.

Thanks, John, for allowing this video to be as long as it was. As someone who never got to read it, I feel a compulsion to finally open it up.

You killed it my dude. I hope you were able to sleep well after finishing this.

I was introduced to Berserk ‘97 by a college buddy around 2010. He talked up the more badass elements of the show, but warned me ahead of time that (1) the intro was fucking ridiculous, and (2) the ending would totally disappoint me. It took a few episodes to get into it, but the character writing, music and art style all worked their magic on me. And when the final episode rolled around, I was strangely okay with how it ended. Maybe I’m weird, but I’ve always preferred endings that leave you with more questions than answers and force you to draw your own conclusions. The story of the Band of the Hawk was over, and I knew why Guts became who he was in the first episode. What else was there to say? Berserk ‘97 was my only reference point to the series until Miura’s death, when I decided to start reading through the leatherbound deluxe editions. I’ve been taking breaks between each volume – in part because I don’t have the stomach for violent content that I used to, but also because it’s difficult to move forward when things are going well for these characters. Miura is great at capturing those moments of understated bliss before things inevitably go to shit. And while Berserk has influenced a lot of different pieces of media, none of them has managed to capture everything that works about this series (I’d challenge your Márquez potshot if I didn’t think there was a chance of it being true). Wherever this story ends, I’m grateful for having journeyed with these characters at their best and worst moments in this enchanted hellscape. All of this rambling is to say: great work as always and take care of yourself. (Also, Lady Emily's video makes a great double-feature for anyone wanting more commentary about Berserk.)

Just coming to the end of this video and I want to say it is an absolute triumph. On why Berserk was great, the dispelling of a "single out of this world genius" and the effort to remind us that Miura was human with hopes and dreams and ambition. And then the ending. You've done something amazing and you should feel proud. No matter whatever comes next or whatever you choose to do, I hope you know you've made something amazing that will be beloved by loads of people out there.

Fuck you for making me think you were gonna stop making videos! Nearly had a heartattack lol. Extremely good way to bring your point across though. Loved this video, you remain my favourite YouTube content creator, thank you for your continued efforts!

Just finished the Berserk video. I've been watching your stuff since I started Uni in 2016. Man, THANK YOU. The way you're able to talk about the things you love in such extreme detail and humour are just spectacular. Your passion is inspiring and as an artist, it makes ME want to become the best version of myself. As some previous comments have mentioned, I also hope you're taking care of yourself. If you need some space from creating, then take as long as you need <3 You've already gone above and beyond. Thank you again.
