This time we’re talking about Devotion and the Games of Red Candle.
This was a pretty tricky video for a lot of reasons, because it’s not really one story as much as it is five different stories, that all feed into a greater whole. Trying to balance each section and give enough context to support the overall message of the video was difficult, each part required a lot of research into real world events, with some of the topics being pretty sensitive so I had to be careful.
That said though, I’m really happy with how this video turned out, it was a challenge but I feel like it’s pretty different to anything I’ve done before and should hopefully be a cool surprise for people.
The editing process on this video was actually pretty weird, I’ve never done a full video on something first person, and that was tricky because all of a sudden the focal point of your editing goes from “people” to “environments” and because of that I had trouble getting a sense of emotion going in the early edits, as the easiest way to evoke emotion when editing is to cut to a person feeling that emotion, but I didn’t have this option this time around, but it ended up being a pretty interesting limitation that was fun to work around.
As for me, I’m doing pretty good, I got some cool news about Convention stuff for the Summer I’m looking forward to announcing soon, and overall I think I’m doing a lot better than I have in a while. Still struggling with work/ life balance stuff but thats on ongoing process.

(Still better than akalukulai 😅) Awesome, insightful and touching on harsh subjects while still remaining objective, although the whole basis of your videos are fueled by your enthusiastic love for the art, (which is as subjective as anything can be) still baffles me how you manage to make it so neutral in the sense that you don’t pick a side.
