In Defense of the Elevator Scene from Evangelion

This week we're talking about one of my joint favorite anime (alongside Yu Yu Hakusho) Neon Genesis Evangelion!

Generally Eva is a really difficult topic to cover, not only is it a very polarizing show, but there's also a very high likely hood that WHAT EVER you say, its already been said somewhere else, in fact I would bet that Eva is probably the MOST discussed anime on the internet, period.

And I think at some point (not anytime soon) I will give the show the proper "Why You Should Watch" treatment, but for now I wanted to come at it from a different angle, and I really hope you guys enjoy.

It was a pretty tough video to write, a lot of stuff was cut out and re written, right up until the day before upload, which I find is a kind of stressful way to work, but I think I do find it kind of invigorating too, I think something about the pressure of a deadline day looming gets my creative juices flowing, as no matter how much time I give myself on a project it always seems to end up going that way.

Also, I don't know if you guys saw, but there was a big blow up this week around the channel "Angry Joe", he's a video game reviewer who's famous for his 20 minute "angry reviews".

The story was basically that a portion of Joes audience gets aggressive towards him when ever he puts out content that isn't an angry review Lets play, quick reviews etc, and what a hard time it is for him dealing with that. I don't watch angry Joe but I felt real bad for the guy, cause I can tell he puts a lot of work into his content.

But it also made me thankful that I do have the support I have from you guys, and how generally your pretty cool whenever I want to do something a little different (Like the Shonen Jump video, Junji Ito etc) as I think the only way to keep making your videos better is try out as many different formats and styles etc.

That said my style isn't going to drastically change or anything, Ill most likely always be doing these essay style videos, and I think if I was to start making other types of Content I would just put it on another channel.

Anyway, this is getting rambely, but three quick announcements

1- I'm going to be at Dublin City Comic Con, if your going, you can message me on twitter or discord and we can do a little meet up

2- there'll be no video next weekend, but we will be doing a talk hole, Next Saturday (the 5th) 18:00 IST (that's 13:00 ET )

2- and the reason for no video next week is cause i'm starting work on a big video, and by A big video I mean THE big video, that's right its finally here its the HYPER MYSTERY VIDEO.

I've been researching it for the last couple of months and I'm finally ready to start its production. You can see some clues for it on the Patreon page, and the only other things Ill say here is its not an anime or a video game. Really looking forward to see what you guys think.
