Why You Should Watch/ Read One Piece

A New Video just went live on the channel!!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtGoikgbxP4F3rgI9PldI9g/videos

So let me tell you a story.

Last Sunday night I was just finishing up work on this vid when a friend called over (Bryan from the lfab podcast) asking me to format a memory stick. I took it into the office, did just that, but then asked him if hed like to see some of the video, given that hes a one piece fan.

He said sure, and I brought him in, only to find the edit files gone, I was confused and wondered if my hard drive disconnected or something and then it hits me: I didn't format his memory stick, I formatted my entire hard drive, One Piece video and all.

It was one of the most horrifying pants shitting moments of realization I've ever had, especially this video, because this one took A LOT of work, but as you can tell from this post I was able to eventually recover most of it and get it finished JUST before I head out to LA.

Thank. Christ.

Oh, and I'm gonna be at Anime Expo in LA!! and if your there and your reading this, then that means your a patron which means id love to thank you in person, so send me a message on discord or on patreon  and we'll sort something, maybe an exclusive meet up for Patrons.

I gotta go get a plane, but as ever guys, thank you SO much for the support, and I really hope you enjoy the video.

Hope you've got a backup system in place, that sounds terrifying!

This video gave me a pretty similar experience with One Piece as I've been aiming to deliver to people with regards to Homestuck--I feel a renewed appreciation for a series I once enjoyed but got increasingly jaded on over what I viewed as fundamental failures (Real happy you mentioned One Piece's issues with female character design in particular, though I'm curious what you'd have to say about Nami and Robin's treatments in the narrative later on cause I checked out after a certain point and now find myself curious). I'm happy to say you have me reconsidering, to say the least. Probably will find a way to catch up once I find the time now. And I'm happy this video coincided with me finally being able to afford throwing some support behind some of my favorite Patreon pages, yours included. Keep up the good work! You've been an inspiration to me for a while now across the board--your content delivery, your editing, and in being an overall real good person. Lookin forward to chillin in your discord once I find my way in.

I absolutely love this video. It perfectly describes why One Piece is and quite possibly always will be my favorite series of all time. Not just anime either, of anything. I really like how you point out the flaws at the end, all of which I completely agree with, but at the same time I think the many many genius ways Oda tells his story far outweigh the flaws. There is simply no other series like One Piece. I watched this video and had to pledge for at least a month or two. I have wanted to do this for a long time, since I first saw your video about what makes a fight scene interesting, which is quite possibly my favorite YouTube video I have ever watched. I love your video's, love your podcast, and most of all love your god damn beautiful voice (though I do love Niamh's voice even more). Thank you very much for making all of this content I can enjoy each and every week. I am actually still working my way through listening to past episodes of the podcast just to hear you, Niamh, and Bryan talk.

Wow! Lucky you got it big part of it back! :D Just became a patreon, love your videos man! Keep em Rollin Super! :D

Hey man, you're not alone. I think Tekken 4 is pretty cool too. I feel that everything about it is interesting, different and unique: -How the narrative was presented -The new approach taken to how the stages looked and functioned -The soundtrack -How the characters were modeled differently, to appear more realistic -The UI or HUD In the end though, the lasting success of a game depends on its core audience, and the Tekken community as a whole quickly moved away as the next game came around. Glad to see there are still a few that share the same sentiments as I. Great job on the video. Keep up the good work.

I also stopped for a little and missed a few arcs but I have recently started to get into again. I stopped a while after the time jump.

It's One Piece. What else do you need to say. There will never ever be an anime like this again. When it ends Oda will leave a legacy that won't ever be matched. It's like The Simpsons of Anime but it's still good to this day.

Holy shit snacks man I was so excited to see this that sounds like a full on panic station. Thanks for the awesome conversation at Qcon I kinda took a back seat for a week rethinking my plans for my own channel and came upon a few good ideas. Thanks for the thinking material and another great vid.

I somehow lost interest in One Piece in early 2016, and I thought about revisiting the series for quite some time now, but I think your video sealed the deal. It reminded me why I fell in love with this series in the first place...Thank you! Keep up the great work man!

Ah, nothing quite like the gut-wrenching horror of data loss. Happy to hear things worked out in the end! Have a great time at Anime Expo. I'm stuck halfway across the globe but at least I have this video to look forward to.

Oh, and this may be the wrong place to mention this, but I recall you saying something about Close Captioning for your videos on Let's Fight a Boss. Have you considered opening those up for your viewers to caption? I believe youtube has a toggle that allows people to submit manually created captions for your content.

I am glad you were able to recover some of it man! Keep up the great work. We appreciate it. (Even if we can't get to LA- Come to Washington state next!)
