Digital Eclipse Poster - Suitable for Printing

Thanks for being a patron!  I asked Bethany (who I pay with Patreon money to do a lot of graphic design for Smarter Every Day) to rebuild this map from NASA data compiled in 2002.  It's suitable for printing!  I hope you love it!

Thank you very much for supporting Smarter Every Day.

EDIT: (Whoops!  I just realized this is 72DPI, I'll upload the 300DPI version tonight)

Digital Eclipse Poster - Suitable for Printing

Comments

Ever since I saw this poster and realised Singapore was going to be in the path of an annular eclipse, I’ve prepared for that moment. It happened yesterday, and I finally experienced and photographed my first ever solar eclipse. Just wanted to thank you very much for you making your videos!

I've shared your site with my grandkids, family, friends and online. We're all better and smarter because we follow SED!!! Can't wait for the next post~~CB

Any chance at a vector version? All this talk about DPI seems silly when we have this cool thing called mathematics. :-)

FAN-FRICKIN'-TASTIC!!! Thank you so much!

Fantastic. It's now on the wall in my office.

Ooooo aaaaaaah. Thank you! It's beautiful.

Thanks all for the suggestions for resolution changes. Minimal dpi should be 300. 72 dpi is a default for web graphics but don't help translate well into print.

If anybody's curious to see the difference between JPEG exports and PNG Exports: <a href="https://d2av97idjaqjyo.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/jpgartifact.png" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://d2av97idjaqjyo.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/jpgartifact.png</a>

Destin, could you please ask Bethany to export this map for us in the largest resolution possible in PNG format? That would let us print it sharper. Cheers from Beirut!

Destin's graphic designer Bethany exported it in 72dpi resolution, size 90.38cm x 58.1cm (or 35.5 x 22.9 inches) but if you print it that large, JPEG artifacts (pixel distortions) will show. Maybe we can ask Destin to upload a larger size in PNG format!

Hello Abdo! I'm a graphic designer from Beirut, I would suggest printing this at 43.38cm x 27.87cm (150dpi resolution) if you want to conserve a sharp look.

Looks great! I wonder what is the largest printable poster size that would conserve the quality.
