Done and Done ;)

I like how Destin freaks out with joy making these videos!

Kristy

Thanks. I regret having overlooked that.

David Fuller

He recorded it in the first video. We were trying to calculate how fast the vibrations initiated the fracture, but we were unable to based on the video.

Also, did anyone calculate the speed at which the fracture propagated though the drop?

David Fuller

I still want to know if you can create a Prince Rupert's Drop using vitreloy which is a amorphous metal. I.e. a glass metal

David Fuller

Hey Destin i'm curious: Do prince ruperts drops work if they don't have a tail? Like what if instead of letting the glass drip out on its own you take some metal shears or scissors and cut the glob of class free and let that lump fall into the water? will it retain its strength like a normal drop but without a weak point in the tail? If so could you do this from a great height such that the glob pulls in on itself to make a sphere like they used to do with lead shot? If i had the ability to set this up i'd try it myself but i don't so maybe you could try it?

Everfalling

That was fascinating, I always enjoy your videos :) This came up as a recommended video for me and I thought you might find it really interesting - after they press the drop into a lead block (spoiler: the drop is fine) when they break the tail trying to get it out it doesn't shatter! https://youtu.be/dViDJti9eCA

Destin, I continue to freak out with joy every time you release a video. I hope you had a fantastic holiday season! Love to you and your family!

Tyler Palmer

Amazing! I knew they were strong, but, did NOT expect that. Thanks man!
