NEW VIDEO: The Story Behind Battlefield 3's Divisive Campaign

YOUTUBE LINK: https://youtu.be/_kfST9l8nIE

Hey folks,

A little surprise here for ya.

We've barely talked about this one because it's a bit of a side project but a couple of months ago I sat down with David Goldfarb (Battlefield 3 Campaign Lead) to talk about the design of the game's single player because for some reason the game was going viral on social media with people talking about how good it was.

Now look, I love the campaign in BF3, but there is no denying that many people were disappointed coming off of Battlefield Bad Company, and the obvious highs of Battlefield 2.

So I figured it was a good time to chat with David about the design of the game and why he recons people are talking about it so warmly in 2025.

Here are the chapters:

0:00 - Intro
2:28 - Bad Company
6:20 - BF3
8:11 - Going Hunting (Jet Level)
11:08 - Thunder Run (Tank Level)
13:31 - Night Shift (Night Level)
14:44 - Swordbreaker (Intro Level)
16:18 - Comrades (Paris Level)
19:01 - Animation & Frostbite 2
20:21 - Quick Time Events
21:54 - Remembering Development
24:50 - CREDITS

We hope you enjoy it! More stuff dropping later this month including the next episode of our HOW GAMES ARE MADE series which Early Access Patrons should have early next week.

Thanks for your continued support!

Danny

I remember thinking the campaign was dull as dishwater.

This is going to be interesting because I kind of remember at the time thinking it was trying to be similar to the Modern Warfare campaign but didn't come together as well.
