[EARLY ACCESS] How Games Are Made: SOUND

UNLISTED YOUTUBE (DON'T SHARE): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbyH9E2xaIw

Hey Early Access Patrons,

After two years of production we've finally got the first episode of this series ready to roll.

This is the first in a series of videos we have filmed that dive deep into specific areas for design. From character design to making doors, from creating marketing materials to lighting. Each episode focuses on the particular challenges that arise when thinking about these specific areas of design.

We're calling this series HOW GAMES ARE MADE and each episode focuses on a specific element. This first episode is about SOUND, covering everything from recording foley, to assigning priority, how the engine and CPU deal with sound and much more.00:00 - Intro

Chapter Markers:
01:36 - Sound
02:24 - Soundscapes
04:36 - The Engine
06:45 - Foley
11:04 - Priority
13:14 - Synthetic Sounds
15:12 - How Sounds Sound
16:49 - Processing The Final Audio
20:21 - Credits

We hoped to make a series that wasn't overly technical like a tutorial, but dove deeper into specific areas to really showcase the broad range of complex problems that game designers have to handle over the course of a project.

There are plenty more episodes are coming too, we have the first 4 mostly edited already. Myself and Jeremy have worked really hard on this in both filming and post-production.

You are the first people to see this new series so please let us know what you think.

Thanks for supporting our work, we hope you enjoy this first episode!

Danny

At the end, it shows "Jerermy Jayne" ^^'

Really like the concept of the series & getting into the nitty gritty. I back the channel doing more vids like this.

This is good stuff! Both guys do a great job explaining things without completely dumbing them down, I think it'll be fascinating to hear them get into the weeds throughout the series. Smart choice for the first episode, the practical nature of foley is really cool to watch. The credits are very satisfying...

Riccardo Margiotta

This was fantastic! I really liked the comparison to optimizing graphics versus sound, where a user is probably familiar with how to tweak graphics settings, but can't do the same for audio.

Glup Shiddo

Very excited to check it out! Great work, lads!
