Update From Ireland (+ New Patreon Trailer)
Added 2019-08-14 10:52:39 +0000 UTCHey Patrons,
Honestly I'm not really sure why I'm posting this because you are literally the only people in the universe this is not really aimed at. But we had an extra +150 people join up yesterday so I wanted to say a quick thank you to them, welcome them to our community with a post and give you all a quick update from my vacation (currently posting this from a seaside bar in Ireland. it's the only place in town with internet. And my favorite crisps).
Those of you who have been with us longer know I've spent most of this year on a business and community building vision-quest in preparation for some big changes coming soon. The good news is I'm gonna be announcing some cool news in the next few weeks. It's big, and scary, but exciting and basically puts us in a position where we can focus on making a consistent amount of docs, alongside regular content like a podcast, streams and more exciting patron-only stuff. After three years of running this I feel like I've found the right formula for the business and know exactly where to put the money. Slotting our funding in the perfect spots, building a consistent and exciting content plan and giving me the thing I've needed since day one; help editing the docs!
News is coming soon but any extra funding gets us closer to that dream. So feel free to share this video around!
And hey - while we're here let me know what you'd love from Noclip more than anything. Weekly podcast with other cool people? Just more docs? More op-ed videos? Finish Ocarina of Time Danny ffs. Stick it in the comments.

2019-08-16 14:01:56 +0000 UTCSorry I'm late! Been watching for years so owe you a few pints I reckon!I
2019-08-15 20:36:07 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if this would fall under your normal documentary style, vision or journey, but I would like to see a doc about the rise and fall of Dead Space and Evolve. Arstechnica has done a couple videos with the creator/director of Dead Space, but I'd like an even more in-depth look at it, like the recent Hitman doc. It would likely be expensive since the team is no longer together.I'm not sure about the key members of Turtle Rock Studios that were involved with Evolve
2019-08-15 04:20:55 +0000 UTCNo requests from me. I enjoy what you're already outputting and I think you're on the right track.
2019-08-14 22:41:49 +0000 UTCI'd love more docs and more op-ed videos

2019-08-14 22:15:09 +0000 UTCFirstly, i would just like to say please keep doing what you have been doing so far. Everything has been exceptional, thank you. Your docs have given me so much respect for the people behind the games. I find it fascinating learning about the people who actually make these games we play for hours upon hours. If i was being cheeky, i would ask that the podcasts are more regular. I thought it was great when you changed the format up and made them a bit more regular. Loved some of those later podcasts. However, i appreciate how busy you must be. If i was being SERIOUSLY cheeky, i would love you to continue a Tournament Of Lies, man that was a funny show! (i know this is totally not related btw :P )

2019-08-14 20:34:27 +0000 UTCNo requests from me, just a note to say the Youtube appeal worked to remind me that you've been one of my favourite creators of games content on the internet for 5+ years now. So, more of same please: more well-considered insights on games that mean something to you and more interesting conversations with the people behind the scenes.

2019-08-14 19:43:08 +0000 UTCI agree with this!

2019-08-14 18:15:27 +0000 UTCJust watching a video on PlayStation Access YouTube channel with Sean Murray talking about No Man's Sky Beyond. He touched on the reaction at release, the first time I've heard him talk about it. Maybe it's time for the No Man's Sky doc?

2019-08-14 17:06:52 +0000 UTCCheers Randy. More coming! :)

2019-08-14 17:06:43 +0000 UTCThanks so much, and I agree completely.

2019-08-14 17:04:29 +0000 UTCYea I agree. That's sort of been the dream all along. watch this space!

2019-08-14 17:04:13 +0000 UTCThanks so much Vladimir! It's a bar close to where I grew up called The Strand. A good spot, depending on the weather!

2019-08-14 17:03:49 +0000 UTCCheers Jeffrey! In case you didn't know we've tried a few episodes of a podcast already. Some are fully edited "radio play" style episodes, and others are a bit chattier. It's available all over the place. Loads of links here: http://noclippodcast.libsyn.com/

2019-08-14 17:02:55 +0000 UTCHah, thanks so much. Great to know so many people are interested in that format returning because I'm really interested in bringing it back properly. with help!

2019-08-14 17:01:51 +0000 UTCI'm not sure ATOL will be making a comeback any time soon as I basically decided to stop doing any non-Noclip related stuff 2 years ago to help me focus my time. It's really nice to know people enjoyed it though. I'm with you on the op-ed show though. We tried a few with Bonus Level but without help to film them I'm limited. Working on a solution to that! Weather down here in Waterford has been mixed. But we've enjoyed the sunshine when we've gotten it!

2019-08-14 17:01:14 +0000 UTCThat's a great idea actually - especially thankful as we know quite a few of them.
Noclip
2019-08-14 16:59:32 +0000 UTCThanks mate - yeah they probably have no idea all the stuff that's been recorded over the years. I forget myself!
Noclip
2019-08-14 16:59:13 +0000 UTCThanks, yeah the podcast is basically my biggest target this year. Finding a weekly format that works. We're almost there.

2019-08-14 16:58:49 +0000 UTCBloodborne Let's Plays it is!

2019-08-14 16:58:20 +0000 UTCIt's always dinnertime somewhere!

2019-08-14 16:58:07 +0000 UTCI'm really trying to share your channel and patreon as much as possible, I think I can already see how you are constantly hitting a ceiling with how you WANT NoClip to function and then how it is actually working with the budget you have. An example would be how you want to turn the podcasts into a weekly event but then a couple of weeks later we hear nothing about it as you have another doc to produce. Even into your third year, there are still baby steps to be done in terms of expanding this network beyond docs. I'm so excited to continue watching this journey, and I really hope the funding gets you there.

2019-08-14 16:01:53 +0000 UTCThe thing I want most is more developer docs. They're simply amazing.
2019-08-14 14:52:36 +0000 UTCGotta repeat what others are saying, A Tournament of Lies was one of my favourite podcasts. Congrats on the increase in Patrons and long may it continue.

2019-08-14 13:15:40 +0000 UTCI would love to see more Tournament of Lies episodes. Always enjoyed that show 😆
2019-08-14 13:06:31 +0000 UTCJames, I agree. A tournament of lies comeback would be great
2019-08-14 12:56:44 +0000 UTCThe weekly Podcast is a great shout! Would personally love to see a bit more of music and art department focus a la the Hades shtuff but that's down to my own bias! Keep up the brilliant work and enjoy Dunmore and Tayto!

2019-08-14 12:16:34 +0000 UTCI am completely fine with the product I get and will continue to support the effort. I wish you luck in growing to meet your ambition, but hope the pressure to grow doesn’t stress you too much. Also - in my opinion pre-roll YouTube ads are completely inoffensive and could get you some no-effort revenue. I don’t think I’m alone in this sentiment.

2019-08-14 11:43:09 +0000 UTCI'd love it if there were extended interviews of the Hitman series. That's become one of my favourite docs and I'm DEEP into Hitman 2 because of it :) Also Podcasts are a big favourite..
Andrew McMillan
2019-08-14 11:35:30 +0000 UTCIt’d be cool to have a podcast with a rotating crew of developers and industry people. Sorta like the Giant Bomb E3 shows.
Matthew Glenn
2019-08-14 11:22:26 +0000 UTCI need to know which bar is this! I subbed after seeing your tweet because I love what you're doing and would hate it if you had to quit doing it. Game development needs to be more open to be better understood. This is only becoming more apparent and important as games reach a wider and wider audience and social media platforms amplify the voices of a toxic minority. You're doing great, Danny. Keep it up! (Also, take some time off here and there, we'll be here when you recharge.)
2019-08-14 11:19:54 +0000 UTCI love the documentaries, nothing quite like them anywhere else on the internet. However, I do enjoy podcasts and having your approach to documentaries applied to podcasting is a very appealing idea. Regardless, I love the content you create. Keep up the amazing work!
2019-08-14 11:11:57 +0000 UTCLove what you’re doing already, but if I could ask for any more it would be more of your opinion pieces like The Point you used to do. There’s some of that here and there but not as much as I’d like. Still no slight on your work to date here though - I show off your docs to many people and brag that I’m a Patron ;)
2019-08-14 11:02:24 +0000 UTCSo happy to see how much the Patreon grew after the Hitman doc and to see all the people sharing on Twitter etc has been great. Personally I'd love to see more bite size stuff like your time at Gamespot or like the Danny's Disk Club video you made a while ago. Also I can't be the only one who wants more A Tournament of Lies? All the best, Danny and enjoy your time back home. The weather isn't pretty bad in Dublin right now so hopefully it's better where you are

2019-08-14 11:02:07 +0000 UTCWould like to know more about the freelancers who move between projects, making assets, designing audio/levels/mechanics in particular specialists, at the height of their game (pun intended) in the industry. By their very nature, they have exposure to a great many projects and some are absolute specialists in nichés.

2019-08-14 11:01:28 +0000 UTCOh nice, all thanks to that one video! Watching it I also remembered how much behind the scenes there is, something the YouTube crowd probably doesn't know about! Totally worth it for that alone.

2019-08-14 11:01:23 +0000 UTCI really dig the podcasts. Nice with a format that is more easily consumed on the go. Thanks for keeping us posted 😀
2019-08-14 11:01:22 +0000 UTCMore videos of any, and I really mean ANY, kind.
