I know you will be collaborating more with Son de Flor in the future potentially. I was wondering if you can maybe lead awareness on this? About the Trade and National Security Actions and Low Value Shipments changes being proposed by CBP? They would tighten the de minimis exemption by excluding certain low value imports. So now if your order is under 800, you wouldn't have to pay additional custom duties. If this happens, that would change significantly. It isn't in effect yet, comments are allowed for people to speak up. I don't have a reach like you do. But i am sure US consumers will be feeling the hit, more so with Son de Flor being pricey for some. This would increase even more. This would affect family/friends over seas, they would set a cap at 100 dollars per gifts. This would obviously affect all international cottagecore brands and small businesses, like revintaria, LWA and emmy design, and us, the consumer, and even influencers. I know in the grand scheme of things , this is a drop in the bucket considering current events. But at least we can try with one thing. Deadline for public comments is March 24.

It takes a huge amount of water to grow and process cotton, and using fabrics that already exist cuts down on a huge amount of resources. True, polyester isn't a great fabric to wear, it doesn't last well and contains plastics, but I would still vouch for reusing over consuming more limited resources. It depends on your own beliefs/priorities though 🤷🏻

I get that people aren’t happy with stuff right now but the way they’re responding to it is largely just making things worse (hatefulness, extreme polarity, othering, intolerance, pessimism, melodrama, etc.). I really can’t spend much time on social media right now without it bringing me down as a result. Always enjoy your bright corner of the internet though! I’m working on a Snow Queen cosplay for C2E2 based off the 2002 TV Miniseries by Hallmark. It’s largely faithful to the original Hans Christian Anderson short story. It was a childhood favorite, used to check it out from the library on VHS like every other month. This is a bucket list cosplay for me I’m very excited to finally be working on!

But earlier today at work I made a hot chocolate collage for a sample for my toddler art class for Monday and got a good start on planning for the next pro-d art camp, where I've decided the kids are going to learn about abstract art. Right now I'm too tired to make so I've been watching this while playing a match game.

This is my side hustle in addition to teaching watercolor to adults, and I'm starting some new paintings of cityscapes for an exhibit in March. I can identify with the Seasons video game- all the old architecture in my city is being torn down and replaced with giant apartment buildings, so I'm photographing and painting pictures of the old skyline as fast as I can.

2025-02-01 03:18:32 +0000 UTCThis was a lot of fun. I really love the finished painting and I can’t wait to print it out! Another thing you could do at cons is crafting workshops. I go to a gaming and RPG convention called Gen con every year in Indianapolis, and they have guest crafters as well as people who make their own crafting events. There is also a great cosplay community there. I think you go on their website and fill out forms of what events you’d like to run and you charge an amount for people to take your workshop. There are some people that do this exclusively throughout the con and their workshops get filled really quickly. I’ve taken sewing workshops, cosplay, workshops, basic crafting, and Crosstitch and painting and baking and really anything you wanna run. There’s also jewelry making and cottage core crafts. It’s a lot of fun. So that might be another thing to look at if you want to meet more people and do more of a crafters thing than a Cosplay thing. Just an idea!
