Thank you for doing what you do. I'm 30 and ALL my plant knowledge is because of you. There. Has. Never. Been. A. Teacher. Of. Plants. For me. Thank you. First time I planted ANYTHING was a durpy sunflower seed in 7th grade. I never knew jack shit yet always wanted to be a botanist since elementary school. I was in school then college then struggled to maintain a job and home until around 30 years old.

2023-11-25 21:32:46 +0000 UTCAside from all things plant-, geology-, and generally environment-related that I learn from you, I really enjoy your way with words in service of good and interesting ideas. “Behavioral traits in our genome that we have failed to, on a massive scale, move past” and “primate social signals” is good stuff. And it speaks to my long-held belief that tribalism — from spouting jargon, waving flags, wearing uniforms (military, Girl Scout, neckties, soccer jerseys, etc.), and fighting in the bleachers at a soccer game to hating immigrants, fighting wars, drawing borders, and committing genocide — is probably the worst type of behavior we humans have come up with. Connecting with our environment is the only real cure I’ve found so far too. Thanks for talking about all that.
