The patreon exclusive youtube vids are just "unlisted" so I'm fairly sure the links could be shared, or maybe brute-forced. Very well could not be an actual patreon subscriber hitting the thumbs down, because who the fuck would do that?

Getting a down vote from a patron just means your doing it right and have gathered at least 1 paid hater. I have modified my own saying with a touch of yours "if you don't like me, go fuck yourself". Love all the videos man and hope some day we can see even more lophophoras especially the Thailand, Japanese, Chinese, UK and eu grown ones.

I agree with a previous commenter about not wearing yourself out. You get out there and produce more videos than I can sit on my couch and watch, but you make learning about plants fun and entertaining and I will continue to support you and watch when I can. But it's a marathon not a sprint and I want to see you continue to enjoy what you are doing and not get burnt out and feel obligated to put out a certain amount of videos.

Wasn’t me... but while I’m here, I’ve been reading about Notholithocarpus and noticed it grows somewhat near where you are. Have you come across this one in your travels? It was recently moved from Lithocarpus into its own genus and displays some interesting convergent evolution. Thought you might be interested. Oh, gahd. Please, let it not be me! This guy works too hard, braves all kinds of hazards, and contracts urushiol induced itchiness to the point of needing medical intervention to be subjected to the heinous "thumbs dahn". I went back and looked to make sure it wasn't me. Whew! Nah, I always give you thumbs up. I'm absolved, at least in my own OCD mind. Love your shows and I am learning, especially since I love plants and nature in general and though you go to arid areas, heretofore not my favorite biome, I am beginning to appreciate the adaptations. Must be an accident, but I appreciate that you're open to feedback. I was at my native plant nursery in Tucson recently wearing a CPBD shirt (my gardening clothes now), and the nursery guy said "Is that a crime pays but botany doesn't shirt?!". Ok Part III: And last one. I never saw sooo much nice and different flowers, plants in your 15-30 minutes Videos. Wow. I ask myself every time, how ignorant the masses are. How destructive etc. And so I ask MYSELF a lot, if things, I take for granted, are really worth it (industrial agriculture i.e.). So you, my unknown friend are changing world. And I would give you wrong advise if I would tell you "change this and change that". DO NOT CHANGE A FUCKING THING. Your shit is real and extremely interesting. And I want to thank you for that. EOF

So. Part II: You have extremely valuable videos. At least to me. And I want to tell you why I went to Patreon to support you. First and most importantly. You see the world how it is. Not many people do this. They are living in their bubble and only realize at the end of their lives, that they wasted a lot of time to run after "values" they were programed to run for 8-) (in German: Geweckte Bedürfnisse). Second and evenly important: You should NOT be paid as a Botanical Video Producer, but as a psychological Consultant of highest ranks. I can clearly remember the times from about 1 year ago, when I thought, that the world is going crazy. Working situation, health situation, political Clowns, global Warming etc. ... I was really down (too much shit at one time) and after I saw your YouTube ranting videos, I said to myself "Huhhh. It is not only me 8-)))" And guess what. After watching excellent flower shots from your videos I told myself that hope is not lost, as long as you keep doing your shit. Remembering others others how it is to be NOT manipulated. Continued.

I don't generally feed the algorithm. The recent crop of videos have been an absolute joy and the highlight of my day. Can't wait to see more in the Caribbean like south Florida or Puerto Rico.

I wouldn't dislike a video but this last time I watched a video (I can't remember which one but it was a short one) it sounded less enthusiastic. Maybe it was just because it was short but not really a lot of info on the plants either. Just some names. And i appreciate the long rants. I know youtube thinks 10 minute vids are king but I like the 30-40 minute micro documentaries with commentary on the downfall of civilization. Other than that, just don't wear yourself out. Take your time.

Speaking from experience as someone with big hands and a tiny phone screen it might've just been an accident. Sometimes I'll be scrolling through Reddit or whatever and see a thumbs-down from my account on something I don't remember thumbs-downing. Also results in many accidental sarcastic-seeming thumbs-ups in Facebook messenger.
