Dynaframe Pro Plugin Demo
Added 2023-09-21 00:01:44 +0000 UTCThis is the first of a few demo videos to introduce the concept of plugins and show where they're at. There's still alot of work to be done, but we'll be releasing it as an alpha as soon as the code is reviewed.
Plugins will allow for Dynaframe to be extended to do a a lot of things that have been asked for, but that are challenging to implement into the engine either due to time or different needs. Plugins allows us to have code that doesn't have to compete with internal engine features, and the community can contribute to the whole, or make things for their private use cases (for instance a museum could write code to point to a backend image source). Hackers and hobbyists can use it to add buttons and sensors. Timers and home automation features such as MQTT can be added. And more.
This shows one of the more complex features in action...the ability to query content from the internet and return it with service specific plugins. I show the Pixabay one here, which is one of the first ones that will ship, but we'll have others, and work to curate ones from the community to get them into the store.
I'm VERY pleased to be at this point where we can show these to you, and will start the process of getting it into the main project so we can share it and make it a reality!

Note: If you're interested in developing, we have an alpha release now ready. The process to join is to message "Qwiksilver" in discord so we can support that release seperately, get feedback and work to get it to beta. You'll also notice the store has a test plugin, please DO NOT try to install it unless you have the alpha running! it will likely take down a frame that isn't on the Alpha (it may just not do anything, but we haven't tested it)
