Smaller games in the future?

What do you think about the mentioned idea of making smaller story-based games in the future? Something with a few characters, a story, and 2-4 scenes in total (the amount of content is similar to the Lana Gym update) - something that can be turned into a finished small game nicely.

The pros I see:

The cons:

The poll options might sound like they have a little difference, but that difference is important.

Would smaller stories mean you could string each game together and like chapters? I could imagine a doctor casey, defender of the mystic arts and an iron lana. Why not Nikki, godess of lightning and pizza delivery?

Juline Piccard

100% agree on that.

Honestly this sounds like such a better play for your longevity as a group. You should all work on what you're interested in, and take the opportunity to experiment in smaller projects

So with "smaller games" it would give us the opportunity to explore each character in different ways. New locations, new situations and new characters. Would all still be in the world of Panthea, parallel to Casey and Lana and the other characters as well as current locations. It allows us that freedom to give others the spotlight 😁

WesTheWriter

What about a story that would shift between different characters alot?

Beau

It would be great. Fresh ideas would certainly help with your creativity, and that’s the most important thing. :) I’m glad I could help. ❤️

thank you!

I'm totally with you on this page, Sukira! I think the story adds a lot to the scenes! I like your ideas for re-introducing existing characters in new settings! And yeah, since I'm also a big fan of quality art, I'll try to keep them at the level even if the style might be different

Now you inspire me to look into my 'story sketches box'. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to participate in a collaboration project (mostly with my money and ideas) to make a short game that I mentioned in my posts last week. Now you make me think this might be not a bad idea.

I really love Casey, but as an artist, I understand your want to create new things. I would much prefer you all do smaller games to stay fresh and work on what you like. The burnout and slow pace from your artists will kill your studio if they aren't enjoying what they're working on. I know the poll says people are leaning towards big games, but I urge you to consider what's best for your creativity and adjust accordingly.

I would love to see fresh new characters. And you can always count on us with polls. Just post a few scetches and ask, what we would like. I’m pretty sure, most people would love to help, not only financially, but with opinions. You’re doing an amazing job, despite difficulties on your way. So it would be great to have a few smaller games with animated scenes, and static arts (but you probably already know, I’m really into animated scenes). You can use them to reset your creative workflow and get more inspiration. Your creativity and high standards is the reason I’m following this project for a long time. (Even before I had money for Patreon support)

Gonna re-write, seems the comment did not get properly posted... I prefer big projects, I think. Becauce you can follow characters and it gives more spice towards scenes. With context, a scene gets way better imho. Smaller projects, while good in that you can experiment. But you don't get the same buildup that you would normally get. You can buildup with smaller things, that leads to bigger scenes, kinda like a payoff. There is also the issue if you don't have characters you already know about, then there is even less of context or buildup towards scenes. You could at the start have a scene that it is an D&D session, and that leads towards the project as a whole, that all that happens down the line from there, is a fantasy setting and this is part of that fantasy/LARP or whatever. There you can also change their appearances based on what they wanna play as. Have the character of Casey, but in a more Tomboy/Barbarian or something. Same with other settings, have it be "We are taking a vacation to another place" if you have characters we know from before. Or somebody telling about their vacation trip. I think the big thing is wether or not the quality of the animations and art in general can be held to what we are used to now. Because it is really good, and one of the main things I support for tbh. You have to find some middle line where you are able to deliver but at the same time, not burning out. Seen a few projects that have pauses in terms of years before content is dropped. And that is a bit extreme.

I think another big project would be cool but going with a different setting would be a refreshing change of pace, loved what you guys have made and look forward to a game outside of Panthea from you guys. Good Luck rooting for you guys!

Good idea as it also eliveates pressure from your shoulders and gives you the opportunity to try out new things (like Art-style, mechanics etc.) which is also probably more exciting and motivating for you. I liked the open-world feeling of the first part, where you were able to freely walk around and pursue different sub-stories at your own choice and pace. The current game feels more linear. I know your approach to quality is super high, but there is no need to overcomplicate things. People also liked the first part despite the less advanced visuals. Don't burn out yourself or the team :)

I still play the first game a lot and look forward to this game being finished out. That being said, I think switching it up to smaller games with different characters would be a great chance to explore various opportunities. Who knows what that will lead to. Either way, it's going to be great. I also like the furry male, human female dynamic.

This game is so unique and fun. Honestly anything you do will be good. I'm late to the party but it's the beat party I been too. I support anything you do

lemmon_boi

I'm a huge fan of the current style. I haven't supported any other adult game like I have this one. It may be difficult but the results are worth it in my opinion.
