The fact, that Hips Don't Lie is a remix of a song from Dirty Dancing 2 really changes how I listen to it.

Promiscuous is basically a new version of Intuition; a hollow pop sellout single club track from a respected singer-songwriter whose second album underperformed. Only unlike Jewel, selling out saved Nelly Furtado's career before it killed it.
2023-11-15 11:39:47 +0000 UTCBecause of this episode I started listening to some of Shakiras early singer-songwriter stuff and man, her Eddie Veddery singing voice really does make more sense in that genre haha. I feel like that’s the only part that didn’t fullt translate into her pop diva era.
