NEW POLL: "Back in Black" vs. "Crazy Train"

First off, of course, here's the new episode! "I'm a Believer" vs. "I Got You Babe," both me and Dany think this came out really well. https://open.spotify.com/episode/62ScLZwff63LzF8XDGOeec?si=qZmHIJa0SbKgbJxoypZLYg

Now that that's out of the way, let's check out that new poll!  We are doing the two greatest metal songs of 1980! (Apologies to "Breaking the Law".) Ozzy or AC/DC, vote now!

Comments

Honestly, Ozzie isn't a great technical vocalist, he just does what he does well. Black Sabbath with a great vocalist is Candlemass.

I, too, think it is immoral to bite the heads off of bats and snort ants.

Andrew Larsen

Wow, I got called out! Regarding the bat, whatever you thought of was probably correct. Yes, once upon a time Ozzie bit the head of the bat while on stage, I think it even was a living one. Theatricality indeed

Lazurit

How the fuck is this a tie? Crazy Train is the obvious choice.

Taekook

Listening to the lyrics of Back in Black spoken made me realize the song would sound really good as a rap. I still picked Crazy Train because I just think it's more fun to listen to musically.

Ren Michaels

I'm surprised at all the people saying AC/DC sucks—am I just getting old? Anyway, I really enjoy both these songs, but since Bon Scott has always been my favorite AC/DC frontman, I'll be nice to Brian Johnson this time and give Back in Black my vote.

J. Francis

AC/DC has made a career of making the same song over and over, including Back In Black. There's only one Crazy Train tho'.

Sykonee

Both of these songs kick enormous amounts of ass, but I'm gonna have to go with Back in Black because A. I just generally prefer AC/DC (with either singer) to solo Ozzy as far as what I want to listen to and B. While Randy Rhodes is almost certainly a technically better guitar player than Angus Young, Ozzy's solo stuff has enough studio gloss and BiB has enough (relative) grit in it's sound that I always lean AC/DC's in terms of which guitar player I want to listen to too (I realize saying something Mutt Lange produced has "grit" in it may seem silly, but I think you can see what I mean)

Jared Walske

While I know Back in Black has emotional significance with AC/DC, it might be a bottom tier single of theirs. Meanwhile Crazy Train might be the most quintessential Ozzy song outside of his Black Sabbath albums.

Nick

Ozzy's best work as a singer

Kill James Bond Highlights

Back in Black is my favourite AC/DC song, hands down. But the whole Blizzard of Ozz album set me on fire from the first listen--I didn't know rock music could be that virtuosic until I heard Randy Rhoads' guitar work. All aboard the Ozzy express! HA-HA-HA-HA!!!

Joe G

Look, Back in Black is fun and all, and the riff is great. But Randy Rhodes’ guitar work alone is enough to make Crazy Train the better song.

AC/DC can fuck off
